I did both the DL and DW ride, but the line was really never worth it.

I loved this ride. Mostly because the subs looked like the movie and I loved the steampunk vibe.

Technically, the ride was only at WDW in the US. The one at Disneyland, Submarine Voyage, was never themed after the movie. While the DL ride was older, the subs looked more like modern nuke subs. They were originally military gray and black. In 86 they were painted yellow. Then in 98 the ride was closed. In 2007 it was revamped and reopened as Finding Nemo's Submarine Voyage.

I thought the ride at WDW was meh as a kid. The fake bubbles were obvious to me and I never could see much that was interesting.

I was a cast member at WDW in the 80’s. Piloting the Nautilus at 20k was one of the best jobs in the MK.

enjoyed it as a kid at Disneyland, before Disneyworld was built.

Myself as well. I lived in SoCal in the late 70’s heyday. Disneyland was beyond awesome then. So many cool rides and attractions gone now.
