The craziest story I have heard from my local gun shop owner was a guy getting 8 at once and it got approved the next day or two an hour or so after the email certification got filed.

So I am pretty sure this is just a crazy story. It didnt happen that fast. I hear stories about people getting them in two weeks and that really isnt likely. I have seen a couple go thru in about six weeks.

At day 335, I'm going through the "what do they know about my past" phase.

I've gone through several background checks for professional reasons and I've purchased several weapons. I can't think of a reason why I would be held up. I had an FFL delayed once for a few days, but that happened during COVID when everything was haywire and the NFA system was overwhelmed.

The owner of the store told me and he is a no non-sense guy who I've known since a baby and is probably the most honest guy in the Parish. That and I know the guy who got them. It is 100% true. I do admit it is crazy to the point it sounds unbelievable, I probably wouldn't believe it either if I didn't know them. The point was just that they can be done fast if the ATF wants to. It was a year or two ago, so maybe that had something to do with it, or the fact he got 8 at once and was not a first time buyer.

That's interesting. I guess it raises flags to buy that many and they just knock it out after all the background check is done.

The tax stamp, and wait times are infuriatingly unconstitutional and illogical.

Yeh I have no idea. They both were like pretty shocked. I do agree the stamps and waits are absurd. I meant to look but haven't, does the tax stamp actually reach the IRS or is it just an ATF fee for the privilege of them being such a great institution?

The last suppressor I purchased was back in 2016 I believe. Silencershop had a falling out with Silencerco. They were discontinuing selling their cans. They had one Omega in FDE on close out for 699. Bought it and got it approved in 45 days. Fastest I know of

Congress should abolish the ATF. but...

The ATF should have a rule that if they don't block the sale within 20 minutes, you get an auto-approval.

Agreed. Someone here pointed out in another thread that he knew an ATF guy and he was aware of the hatred people have for them but said if they were to be abolished the FBI would take over all of that. Which idk what is scarier. It all just needs to be toned down and like you said if you are approved to buy the gun what difference does a can really have? How many criminals care about noise or flash suppression when they shoot people, or if they did use one care enough to get it legally? None. They bang it out in the street loudly, with guns that are stolen or illegally bought on the street.

Submitted 2 on 10/17/22 and picked them both up yesterday. They mentioned that Silencer Shop and some others have filed a law suit against the ATF for the delays. He said the fact that Military Services members who have permanent transfer papers can get same day approval, proves the ATF can approve faster. Haven’t looked up to see if the suit is happening but would be awesome if so.

That would be great if so. I've been meaning to check out the latest with the Texas Suppressor "in state" suit. If that goes through I think every 2A friendly state will follow through. Hopefully JBE or anyone like him is out of the Governor's office by then if it were to happen.

My last paper filing was 14 months.

My first eFile was three months. I actually got my stamp four months before my last paper filing that was filed 8 months earlier. It was crazy.

My latest eFile, suppressor, is on month four already.

Plus I eFiled my latest SBR and it's still in limbo.

I wish Silencer Central had a better selection. I like their new payment plan, makes the wait less painful.

Silencer Shop just has the selection.

Everyone keeps telling me there is some outfit in Texas who has them all beat ... Capital Armory maybe?

If everyone had said frick the $200 tax stamp, it would have been dropped. Like nobody buy a suppressor until the tax stamp was dropped.

It saves your hearing. It should be a standard and anyone should be able to get it. Not only do you have to buy a tax stamp but you have to have one for each suppressor.

If I want a suppressor, I'd go to a machine shop and have them build it for me. Or I'd build it myself. Wait time of 2 years Lmao, I'd already had quite a few made in that time and refined it.

15+ months and still waiting. A second one, submitted at the same time was approved in about 9 months. Efile-4 trust on both.

Why is there such a spread on two different applications there were submitted at the same time, wtf?
