any tips on getting the best deal?
The dealers always get their monies in transactions

benefits to looking out of state?
I'm currently looking for a new truck. From the research I've done so far I can save anywhere from $2k to $6k for the same exact vehicle in Texas compared to in South Louisiana.
Those savings are worth a one way plane ticket and a tank of gas in my opinion.

I recently replaced a vehicle. Almost every dealership I spoke with offered a better price if I financed rather than paid cash.

That’s dumb. Car is listed for $28k, offer them $25k in cash. What do you consider a “big” discount?

They’re selling you a loan not a vehicle. They make more money overtime with a loan than you paying cash upfront.

Used to be a big deal, now they don’t want cash. They have special offers for financing. Dealer once told me he couldn’t give me the 1k discount because I wasn’t financing. I said confusingly, “but I’m paying cash”. He said the 1k was from the corporate office and I could simply pay it off in 3 payments. I asked him if he was going to lose the deal over 1k and he said yes. I had to walk out.
Cash is no longer king.

I would try telling them you are financing the car through them. Then haggle the price down. Right when you're about to sign then pay cash.

There won't be one at all. We prefer you to finance.

That’s true, but they want sales too. I’d walk away if they’re not interested. Go back closer to the end of the month & try again.
I will say this probably would not work on new vehicles. Better chance on used/per-owned vehicles

How would you go about finding the best deal within a couple hundred miles? I’m not picky about the color so there’s probably 30 of these vehicles I would be okay with within a couple hundred miles. I can’t imagine playing the “I may finance” switcheroo with dozens of dealers.

The best deals are always the oldest vehicles on the lot. Dealerships will sell those below their cost to get them off the books.

23 Tahoe is what we’re buying, you work at a Chevy dealer? Hook a brotha up haha
Posted on 7/9/23 at 2:12 pm to questionable
Lol yes. Tahoes are hard to find. Most are still ordered units and if the original customer passes then we go to the list and call. I've been on vacation all last week but I'll check inventory and see what we have.

Great, thanks baw. I may finance it, if you know what I mean. Fyi looking for an LS, not an OT baller.

For starters…don’t tell them you’re paying cash.
Don't tell them you have a trade in, putting anything down, etc. Keep wheeling them until you get a price that's good for you, then drop "oh by the way, I'm paying cash".
They won't like you,but they aren't there to be your friend.

Just bought a new truck last week. Walked in prepared to pay cash, Ford was offering 0.0% for 48 months, might have been 4th of July special. My cash is in the bank
