That ‘82 win was a really big deal. Jerry Stoval put together a great LSU team that year.

I was there! That defense was unbelievable!!!

I watched it live on the big screen at the Superdome.

Was not a TV game. The liberty bowl game I think in 78 is my first memory of fandom, but this game was my first memory of going nuts about a game. Listened to it alone outside on a picnic table with a small radio on WWL

My dad had Tigervision season packages, sent me and my buddy to fetch a Popeyes 20 piece, plus large red beans and a dirty rice. Back when they were served in a 32 to 44 ounce styrofoam cup for like $2.75?..
Sent me with forty bucks, we came home with a twenty piece box plus two large sides, biscuits, a case of Coors, a six pack of Heineken for the old man..and still pocketed plenty of change.
LSU dominated much worse than the final score..demoralized the old Bear..a most glorious day.

That 82 Bama game in B'Ham was one my favorite games as a GBFTL drummer.
I was one of the TB members that was heavy into "Football and Athletics" at LSU because I played in High School.
I did football my Freshman, Sophmore and Junior years at Mandeville HS, (Did Band in the second semester for Mardi Gras parades and Concert/Stage Band) then transferred my Senior year to Choctawhatchee HS in Fort Walton Beach Florida to play in the awesome Choctaw "Style Marchers" to help better prepare for LSU/GBFTL.
Transferred back to Mandeville in the final semester to graduate.....

Am I the only one that as I watch this I imagine the game thread if TD existed back then?
Oh the melts there would have been with the fumbles.

I was like 9 months old but I feel like I played a part in the W.

Beating Bear Bryant in Alabama and Bobby Bowden’s Florida State, then losing to a 4-7 Tulane team is the most 1982 Jerry Stovall thing ever.
Imagine Brian Kelly beating Bama, then losing to 4-7 A&M times 100

I was a student at LSU at the time.
That was when we had just a few games on television and that was not one of them. I watched that game on closed circuit television in the Superdome with about 40,000.people. It was like being in the stadium.
Alabama couldn’t tackle Dalton Hilliard.
The biggest cheer came in the 4th quarter when the camera showed the Alabama fans leaving the stadium.

Same here, After watching the game on TV we drove to the airport to welcome the team. First and only time I've ever done that.
And yes, the domination was worse than the score.

The doesn't do just as to how much of a dominating defensive performances this was, one of the greatest in LSU history.

Leonard Marshall, Ramsey Dardar, Bill Elko, Lawrence Richardson and Al Richardson broke the Bama wishbone. Held Bama to 0 first downs entire first half.

Lawrence Williams. I only corrected his name because he was particularly fantastic that day.
All eleven starters on that '82 defense were drafted and went on to play some pro ball. Nine to the NFL and two to the USFL.

Throw in Tim Joiner and my all-time favorite name Rydell Melancon.

We had finally got rid of Charlie Mac and bang, we beat Bama.

I was 10 and I remember a joke that circulated not long after that game
Bear spoke to the team after that tough loss. Went into his office and sipped some bourbon.
Finally made it home to his wife, who he then asked, doll what time is. To which she responded 20 to 10. And that’s how the fight started.
