It's not about what other teams want.

Portland will not send him to New Orleans if he says don't send me to New Orleans. Which he would, so they won't.

Technically there isn’t a trade clause and Portland can take the best offer of his short list. We aren’t on his short list and won’t be. I really don’t want him.

There's no way they were dumb enough to actually think he was staying.

Dame to the heat would be awesome...him and butler would make the heat the most likeable team in the nba

I don’t want this trade under any circumstances but they didn’t have BI and Zion. It was Dame CJ and a pack of bums

If the Blazers decide to take the best deal, I think one way this could get pulled off is sending CJ to Brooklyn, he seems like he would be a good fit over there.
Dinwiddie
McCollum
Bridges
Cam Johnson
Claxton.

Simmons and a couple 1st rounders to Portland for them to take Simmons contract and upgrade to CJ.

Pelicans send out a package of something like McCollum / Kira Lewis / Dyson / Temple and 4/5 1st rounders and get Dame.

Portland gets Simmons as salary filler, and a couple young dart throws and 5/6 first rounders.

A third team probably has to be involved but trading CJ and a couple of future first round picks should be enough to land Dame right? Add JV if it’s imperative.

We need to be in this. This is a move you dip your toes into the tax for. Ingram, Kira, Dyson and 2 1sts.

Dame and CJ carried Portland to a WCF by themselves, add a Zion, Trey and Herb to that and that’s a championship team.

nice so far. get bill russell now.

my feed says only Miami.
he's a fool and his agent is the devil.
Miami could have swung a 3 way a few days ago .

The Dame-CJ combo hit its ceiling in Portland. I see no reason to think they would go further in the playoffs now that they are a few years older.

They had Dame/CJ and that was it. Zion changes that WCF team to a championship team.

Isn’t Dame’s contract over 50 million?

CJ isn’t being offloaded for Dame

This doesn’t sound like a GM that’s only going to send him to his preferred place unless they give the best deal.
quote:

Blazers’ Joe Cronin: “We have been clear that we want Dame here but he notified us today he wants out and he’d prefer to play someplace else. What has not changed for us is that we’re committed to winning, and we are going to do what’s best for the team in pursuit of that goal.”
quote:

Front offices talking to Portland today were left with impression that GM Joe Cronin is pursuing a star-level return package for Damian Lillard – and that Cronin plans to look well beyond the Miami Heat to find one.

On SXM radio earlier they were saying that Portland will want good young players along with picks.

Any package to get Dame would include Ingram, and frankly there’s no team out there that could/would beat that.

You are overlooking the fact that no one is going to want to trade for him if he doesn't want to go and tells them to frick off.

Whoever trades for him either needs to be a team he is willing to go to or one that can convince him they can win with him.

As for him coming here, there's no fricking way.

The logic that he wanted Zion in Portland so he would be willing to come here is faulty as hell. He likes Portland. He was willing to try to make it work in Portland. That doesn't mean he wants to come here. A lot of players don't want to play for a small market team in a small city that doesn't have the best reputation.

He has no say in this as he’s under contract for a long time. It’s not an AD situation where he only has a year left on his deal.

Now Portland won’t send him to a team like the Spurs, they will send him somewhere that he can compete, but they will take the best package they can get from a team of that nature.

As I said, a team can convince him they can win with him and make him willing.

It ain't gonna be here though, for several reasons on both sides.

Translation - “frick Miami!”

That team is bleeding players since the start of free agency and doesn’t have much in the way of draft capital.

Miami roster per Spotrac, not including deals just signed-

Butler
Bam
Lowry
Herro
Duncan Robinson
Nikola Jovic
Heywood Highsmith

Lowry works from the purposes of salary matching as an expiring but the rest of that roster are either Miami’s core or some horribly untradeable contracts.

Miami is also about $5m from the super tax apron so they have to move a shite ton of salary to bring him in.

PS - Miami owns all but one of their firsts the next few years BUT the protections on 25 and 26 (to OKC) mean they can’t trade any pick before 28 without acquiring another one or waiving their protections on 25.

We're not getting Dame but think at least 1 of Herb/Dyson plus 4 1sts, and not sure that gets it done.

Chris Haynes said on NBATV that the latest is Portland wants an all star level player back.

Could get interesting as Miami nor Brooklyn has that without sending out their top guy(s).
