Pelicans could have traded for Myles Turner tons of times, i'll believe it when I see it in regards to trading for rim protection and defense

I'm confident right now that Duren at 4/24 is light years better than Jarret Allen at 3/60.

We have a known talent in Herb. Dyson may be good, or he might suck. Who knows.

Myles Turner

Indiana turned down the 4th pick in 2019 for him. No they couldn’t have. After that its just been rumors.

Besides, Turner on this team makes us one of the worst rebounding teams in the league.

All Duren does is foul. He's very foul prone and will be called on it at some point. No one cares when they lose games. He plays physical and is strong. But he still has poor touch and isn't a good free throw shooter.

Allen has better touch, better free throw shooter, and is a better shot blocker.

If you want to make an argument for a big in the 22 draft, it's probably mark williams. He's better than Duren and will more than likely have a better career.

Yeah Dyson can play defense but he he might not be able to let us play 4 on 5 on offense like all NBA talent Herb. Wasted pick.

Drafting Dyson instead of Duren looks worse by the day. This is Griff's second biggest mistake to date, just behind trading down from 4.

Lol. First off, picking Dyson over Duren was the correct move, one of the few that Griff did correctly.

How about stupidly including a first for Graham. I liked Graham but said we shoulda signed him to an offer sheet and if they matched you move on.

We would have had that first to draft Duren or mark Williams. I’d say that was one of Griffs big blunders and I’d put number two not taking Lauri M for Ball when offered.

Dyson regressed big time the second half of the season. That's a terrible sign.
Trey Murphy did too, he couldn't get on the court halfway through his rookie year. Plenty of rookies who turn out to be good players hit a wall in their rookie season.

and we are going to be saddled with his large contract at the 5?
Contract really isn't that large

And that means possibly trading an all-NBA level talent in Herb?
Herb...All NBA?

How do you know this?

Just because a dude is perhaps being shopped does not mean the team looking to move him has reasonable demands.

All NBA defense isn't All NBA? Trey got better as the year went on and Dyson was nailed to the bench. He had the ankle injury, so maybe that was it.

Look, I hope it works out with Dyson, but it has worked out with Herb. Spending money at the 5 to fix a problem that should have been addressed cheaply in the draft is the issue. I'm not trading Herb to bring in Allen. Full stop.

Nah, it's not but I get your clarification there.

But Trey had the same issue his rookie year. Played a little, then was nailed to the bench his rookie year. Same thing happening to Dyson in no way means he's done developing and won't contribute. This happens to a lot of rookies who become contributers.

Do people still believe that Dyson is going to play PG?

He is going to end up being 6'9. Shouldn't they be preparing him to be a SF or even PF? He'll get abused trying to defend small guards long term, same as Jones..

It’s really not, just would HATE losing Herb. But hard decisions are going to have to be made.

I think positions don't matter, and he will likely play some variation of Point Forward.

He’s a connector like Lonzo was. I listed him at PG in that 5 man lineup just because. That is a positionless group, especially 2 years from now, where I could see 4 guys being the “PG” on any given play on offense and 4 guys defending the paint on any given play on defense.

Who's guarding smaller players? Teams will just run us off the court. You can't even bully with size, cause all of them are lanky and weigh under 200lbs.

We can't just play with a bunch of 6'8 wings. Toronto tried that and failed miserably..

Dysons probably one of our best defenders on smaller players. Not that Booker is tiny, but Dyson stayed in front of him way better than Herb as an example. Crap, we put Cj on them today, I see no reason we would think Dyson would be a downgrade on smaller players.

Dude just turned 20, was a key rotational piece for us, proved to be one of the league's 10 best defensive guards, and we already got guys calling him a wasted pick.

This board, man.

IF our long term plan is to play Trey over Herb, I think Dyson progressing and replacing CJ in the lineup will be the best way to have the lineup make sense. Dyson can replace the lead defense that Herb gives while also hopefully being a net positive offensive player.
