All I know is whatever data Jay used to position our defense saved some big hits in the past 2 games. The outfielders were almost always right there even on balls I thought would drop or go gap.

WF coach definitely pulled a Paul Manari. He pulled 2 pitchers who were dealing just a little bit too early and it lost the game.

I can't believe they pulled that reliver out after crews got on. That dude was dealing, white has been in a slump. Had to put in his star closer to get him out of a bind and dude meatballs it.

Coach panicked.

It’s not like Lowder came out and they lost. He wouldn’t have pitched into the 11th. That didn’t lose them game, he could have lost it if he felt tired and ultimately left a ball up.

How is telling your coach that you’re out of gas and it’s time to go to the pen “analytics”? He didn’t (to our knowledge) use data or charts or trends, he observed his own body becoming fatigued in the moment and reacted. That’s the opposite of analytics.

If you look at his game stats, he rarely went over 100 pitches once, and normally finished right at 85-90.

Why stretch someone and possibly start your reliever in a jam when that reliever is just as good?

As far as college baseball history is concerned, this was about as David versus Goliath as it gets. Wake forest hadnt won a college baseball championship in like 70 years. In fact, they’ve only made three trips to the college World Series. They have an undergraduate enrollment of less than 6000 and a 30% acceptance rate to the University.

They pushed us to the wall and then we had to make a jumping catch to bring in a finals appearance. That was a damn good college baseball team, that we just barely got by.

Think about them pitching to Crews with 1B open and a runner on 2nd and only 1 out, striking him out then intentionally walking Tommy and then getting Tre to fly out.
that sequence was wild

You have to think Lowder know himself and body better than anyone. If the guy goes back out there and loses the game or gets injured impacting his future because he is fatigued, that isn’t good for anyone.
