They have been the worst hitting team of the tournament so far. Listed in order of BA:

WF (3 games)
18/91 (0.198), 2 XBH

Virginia (2 games)
13/62 (0.210), 5 XBH

Stanford (2 games)
15/66 (0.227), 4 XBH

LSU (4 games)
29/127 (0.228), 10 XBH

Florida (3 games)
24/102 (0.235) 12 XBH

Tennessee (3 games)
26/102 (0.255), 5 XBH

ORU (3 games)
29/106 (0.274), 8 XBH

TCU (4 games)
37/131 (0.282), 10 XBH

They squeaked by Stanford. They squeaked by us. If you listen to their press conference after the game, they are pressing and they even said they have to grind harder today. I think we can beat them with or without Skenes.

That's telling that no team is batting 300.. This stadium needs to downsize 5 feet in the middle

Rather hold Skenes for UF

Who would you start tonight then?

We don’t have many arms left if Skenes doesn’t start.

That’s gotta be a season low BA for us over 4 games

5 feet in the middle would have changed maybe one out into a hit all week (the TCU ball to end the game yesterday). Need to move it in about 15 feet with that prevailing wind blowing in.

I think Skenes has to throw. But I would start Hurd instead. He only went 3 innings Monday and he did well vs this team. Let’s see where the game is at in the 4th, then bring Skenes in if necessary.

The other side of the bracket got in 2 games without 10+ mph winds straight in.

At this stage, teams should have very good pitching and not many teams should be batting over .300. I think the stadium design is fine, the direction it faces with the wind and sun in LF face is idiotic.

Florida is just as lucky. You keep flirting with 1 run games and it will eventually bite you.

Rhett Lowder vs Stanford:

IP: 5.1
Pitches: 100
SO: 6
Hits: 7

And we all know the performance Skenes has put on all year vs SEC. I think this is really the manifestation of Wake actually playing somebody. The pressure is squarely on Rhett to deliver, whereas, Skenes has been facing major pressure in SEC play all year.

I also listed the extra base hits. They are the only team averaging under 1 per game and no other team except Tennessee is averaging under 2 per game. That is just as telling as the BA as it’s obvious that the teams that are getting those XBHs are the most successful outside of Wake.

Also, another odd stat is that Wake’s loss last night was the only game out of the 3 where they outhit their opponent.

To tell the truth, it hurt that Coleman didn’t last. If he had had a good outing we would still have Herring ready for tonight.

They also didn’t have to deal with those shadows at 6-7 PM.

A bigger ballpark should produce higher batting averages. Fewer home runs but the extra room should favor hitters.

The pitching has been really good this week.

Seven of those 12 are home runs. Right?

Don’t throw them pitches that get hit out of the park, and they are very beatable.

If Skip Bertman were still coaching LSU, he would be emphasizing the scam that is the Wake Forest baseball team. LOL

All the pressure is on them now, with or without Skenes. They're definitely feeling it.

Not when the wind is blowing in, the outfielders are playing super shallow knowing no one can easily hit it over their heads
