Bro could you have written a more confusing title?

Skenes could be the deciding factor in the tie break on 4 days rest
If Skenes pitches today he would only have 3 Days of rest should LSU push UF to a game 3 on Monday.

I would love to see us win without touching skeenes vs wake today, but they have a major league starter that we know will be pitching to start that game. We CANNOT risk going down 1 or 2 points early with Floyd or Hurd pitching. The logic says we will only score 0-2 points tomorrow while their starting pitcher is on the mound, so we have to start someone we think can hold them to less than that for 6-8 inning. Unless our bats get lucky we will likely have 0-2 points going into the 7th or 8th do you trust Floyd and Hurd to do the same?

I think LSUs bats are due for a big, BIG game & I sincerely think/hope/pray IT comes today & LSU stomps all over WFs gender confused lads!!

Good job coach !!! Let the players know !!

1) start Skenes and win, you don’t have him to start a game against Florida
You would have him for Monday, assuming we force a game 3.

This is kinda BS. Skenes will be Skenes whether he starts or comes in after an inning or two.
You’re completely missing the point.
If we go down 5-0 in the first with Lowder on the mound, it won’t matter if we bring in Paul Skenes or 1963 in-his-prime Sandy Koufax…the damage is done. We’re starting off behind the 8-ball.
Starting Skenes drastically minimizes the chances of that happening.

I'll guarantee he wants to pitch tomorrow. Its the reason he chose LSU over other schools. It would be unfair to what is arguably the best pitcher in LSU history to not let him pitch when he is ready and its an elimination game
Just because he doesn’t start doesn’t mean his season is done.

If you lost and missed the title series with skenes on the bench it would be unforgivable. Please stop.
I didn’t say you can’t play him

No. In your situation the starter would have to be on too short a leash. When do you pull him? First walk? First run? 2 out 3 run homer after an otherwise decent pitching 1st inning but a couple guys got on base?
Sure. All of the above.

So start someone else but as soon as that someone allows a couple hits or baserunners PULL HIM?
Yea. What if that doesn’t happen though?

2) don’t start Skenes and get in a jam, bring him in and we win, but don’t have him starting a game against Florida. Bases loaded in the 2nd inning? Ok, bring him in and have him shut that down and shut them down the rest of the game. But you don’t get him against Florida.
3) don’t start Skenes, don’t need him, win, he’s ready for game 1 against Florida
Skenes might not be availabe for a start but he would 100% be available for a short outing against Florida if he starts tonight. Jay will make the decision that will give this team the best shot to win. I highly expect a Skenes and Hurd outing to get us through 9 innings.

If WF throws their stud on the same rest then I think Skenes also throws. You almost have to in order to win.
Posted on 6/22/23 at 6:43 am to STEVED00
Eh. Their pitching hasn’t been that great tbh.
Posted on 6/22/23 at 6:44 am to TackySweater
I’m just using that as an example.
But 5-0 can happen in the wink of an eye. Before you can get Skenes properly warmed up.
You don’t experiment at this point in the season.
