Yah I'll second Arcade Fire and also add Coldplay and Bob Moses.

Coldplay is without a doubt the "best (rock) band" of the 2000's (that didn't exist before 2000) on multiple levels. This is a factual statement. Not critically, but essentially by any other metric.

There was a time when it felt like 30 Seconds to Mars, Kings of Leon, and Paramore were poised to take over the world. They all had good runs, but never got as big as I thought they might.

I've been bingeing Japanese rock and metal recently - check them out.

Band-Maid
Lovebites
Wagakki Band
Gacharic Spin

There are some amazing musicians and performers there.

They do, but for a hot minute back in the day, it felt like they were gonna be Nirvana-huge.
