Whistler is pretty much the Mecca of downhill MtB parks
That’s cool and all but Lake Louise has a better mountain bike pump track than Whistler.
When Lake Louise gets enough snow, that track is open for skiing. And it’s fun as all hell.
I put 12 days down in Canada this season.
I’m headed back out West 3/8-3/23 to storm chase.
No Whistler by choice.

Ticket increases across the board next season but it's a no brainer for me to finally just get the year pass.

Quick question for those who frequently fly...I am in the market for a new ski travel bag mainly for airline travel and very often will use Southwest (normally at least in either outbound or inbound if not both). Their policy appears to have changed a bit where now they are limiting the contents of a ski bag to skis, poles and boots. Now, from many years of experience racing triathlon and cycling I know your experience will almost always depend on the agent you're dealing with on that day but I definitely don't want to get a bag designed to fit skis, clothes and gear and then only stuff it with skis and poles and be left shuffling at the bag check stuffing clothes in other bags.
So, all that being said I am looking for something more minimal but with good padding. Don't care if it has wheels since it will only contain my skis and poles and I will just put my boots, goggles, gloves, etc. in another carry on bag and bring it with me.
Any other suggestions (not sporttube) on a basic padded bag, designed for air travel with minimalistic features that doens't break the bank? I know the bag will take a beating and I can protect the skis and bindings with pool noodles and bubble wrap but I don't see the sense in over spending for a bag I may need to replace every other year anyway. Right now, Tonesport is in the lead but looking for any other suggestions.

This season is far from over for me.
Heading out Friday on a one way to Redmond, Oregon. My storm chasing starts at Mt. Bachelor.
I plan to end up in Reno and end the chase on 3/22.
Bachelor, Mammoth and Palisades.
Nuked.

When was this? Flew in and out last week with jackets and pants packed to the brim in mine.

I don't know exactly when it changed and Im sure it isn't always enforced but I don't wan to encounter someone who's in a bad mood. I even asked if I could use my ski pants as insulation or protection over the bindings and they said no.

Snow ski equipment, including skis or snowboards, ski boots, and ski poles are allowed, including one pair of skis or one snowboard, one set of poles, and one pair of ski/snowboard boots packed in a container(s) acceptable to Carrier. When substituting ski equipment for a free bag, we allow up to two bags (containing one set of snow skis, ski poles, and ski boots) to count as one item, even if they are packed and tagged separately. Snow ski equipment packed in a plastic bag will be transported only with a limited release of liability.

My kid has flown with same carry on at least a dozen times. We flew to Charlotte in January and they told us she had to check it and pick it up at baggage claim bc it was too big. The flight was maybe half full and it fits fine. You can’t convince me they dont single people out bc they’re in a shitty mood.

I finally was forced to get new boots. I walked into the shop with an open mind and open to anything besides K2 BOAs. After trying on a few different pair, I walked out with the K2 Mindbender 130 BOAs. Heading up today for a few break in days. The boots are very nice and fit well out of the box. My concern is they are overly complicated to put on with many potential failure points.

I thought about those as well but just went with the K2 BFC 100. I love Boa technology but I am lazy when it comes to putting on shoes and socks

When visiting Bend, DO NOT miss the chance to meander around McMenamins.
It is a school, hotel, pub, theater and a cigar bar, among many other things.
It is a circus of a good time.

Glade goggles and helmets…anyone with experience using these products? Reviews?

I’ve got a buddy sponsored by Dang shades. He is obviously biased.
Dang and Glade and a few others have been jockeying for position in the mid range price point for eyewear.
Regardless, I’ve seen him put the Dang through the gauntlet and they kept performing.
Magnetic lenses are a must for me (easy cleaning).
I run Analog M2.

Been using them both for the last 2 seasons. Love em.

I’d love to hear how you like them after a few days on the mountain. Love the idea of the BOA system for ski boots.
I need to figure out my boot situation. I’ve had the same K2 boots for 3 seasons and they’ve been phenomenal. Starting about 3 weeks ago, I can’t get them dialed in anymore. It feels like I have to crank them down so far to make them feel connected to my feet the way I want. It’s resulting in some pain on my left foot. Super frustrating
I am thinking of trying a tongue insert. My hunch is that the padding has become compact and needs to be beefed up. Anyone tried them? I’ll probably see a boot fitter in the summer.

Yeah, they are getting ‘packed out’. Soon the ratchet won’t even be able to get anywhere near snug.
All boots get packed out eventually.
