The bus is the only way I'll do it now. I drive it for three days a few years ago...never ever again.
I was the person people bitch about for sure.
No issues but I was definitely not prepared for that at all.

Seems to have been a really dry 2 weeks everywhere. That really sucks for overall base.
Hoping this pattern stays for the next month or so.
Everyone is going to get into the action but it is going to be a big week for any mountain that does well with a Northwest flow. Cottonwoods, Steamboat, Vail, Targhee, Jackson, etc.

Keystone and Abasin can’t catch a break. They’re getting 5”, Steamboat is getting 5’

Another 5" overnight for snowbird, should be a good one today
Ended up snowing all day, probably 6-7" total. Great day, my legs are burned after skiing Alta, solitude, Brighton, and two days at snowbird. Another Brighton/solitude day tomorrow then back to reality

Hopefully they get a surprise dump, reading the A-Basin blog is depressing. They haven't had much luck in the past few years with snow.

Give me a great 2024 for snow!!
Powder days everyday.
Which is only like 3-4 days.

Just got back from park city and they need snow bad. However, it was dumping this morning. Only half the runs open and very crowded on the runs that were open. Great trip regardless, but I think our crew likes vail/beaver/steamboat better.

El Nino year for Summit County usually sucks til Spring. Loveland is getting skunked also. Havent paid attention to Breck as they arent on my pass plus they dont mind reporting wind blown numbers.

Looks like my two days at Whitefish may have highs of -15.

Was in breck last week. Snow was pretty meh until the last day when they got a few inches. still have half the runs closed and peak 6 and top of peak 8 are closed.

I skied Kicking Horse in Canada last week. Snow was pretty crappy on the resort but I did get amazing powder in the chopper one day:

We are finally about to have multiple storm cycles and I am leaving tomorrow for a week. Fml.

Care to share a little more about this? Probably not something I’ll ever do, but it seems really interesting. How many runs do you get?

Seen a few heliski offers recently.
Good guess is $1850/day + tip.
Usually about 6 runs and 10-15k total vertical.
You can add extra runs for $250/p/run.
But I've never been and am interested to hear about a firsthand experience.

This pretty accurate. I might have gotten a little more, but you're guaranteed close to 10k vert (3k meters).
I was pretty spent - especially after pulling myself out of powder pits a couple times, so I didn't feel like I needed any more that day.
It was endless powder though. Probably the best skiing I've ever done in my life - at least top 3. And it's been a slow early season so it seems to be a pretty reliable endeavor to me.
Another cool note - my ski partner was an assistant manager of a Bundesliga team.
I'm already trying to plan a time for when I can go back and do one of the 4 or 5 day trips. I'll need to get in better shape first for that though.

Skied Alta today, foot of fresh snow last night and it snowed most of the day. Powder was kind of dense but awesome, only lift line was for opening bell. Caught some deep powder in the Supreme bowl after the rope was dropped.
Was an adventure getting to SLC, 16 hours of flying or waiting in an airport. First plane rolled out onto the runway and lost power, flight cancelled and I had to connect through ORD where a storm was hitting because that was all that was left. Somehow I made it out of there.
Going to ski Snowbird tomorrow, only ever skied there once before so I am stoked. Looks like they have gotten six inches already.

You're following my footsteps from a week ago . Snowbird was excellent on Saturday and Sunday. There were still a few exposed rocks on runs like the Cirque traverse but Mineral Basin and Baldy lifts had great skiing.
Best snow I found- after dealing with the rocks up top, go down middle cirque. When you start to get lower, keep hugging left and you'll find some trees. Follow the tram line pretty much all the way down. It's steep but plenty of untouched powder in there

A foot of powder at Alta, a foot of powder at Snowbird, not sure I have skied anything like this before and the storm cycle isn't halfway done yet.
Parked by the Wilbere lift and got close to first tracks down, it was deep. A bit windy up top so I mostly skied Gadzoom and Gad 2 and then worked my way over to the Peruvian lift. For a great pow day the crowds weren't bad, kind of slow heading back down LCC but nothing crazy. Parking was a circus though. Still not sure where I am going to ski tomorrow, I might take the bus up to Brighton.
