You're the idiot that thinks Putin invaded a sovereign country because NATO.

Exactly, you are dense. Can't understand that the USA felt threatened by Russia in Cuba and we almost went to war over it. And now NATO next door to Russia makes them feel threatened just like we did.
bullshite! America did not instigate the Cuban crisis because Russia brought Cuba into its orbit. America tolerated that. It was when Russia put nuclear missiles, aimed at the USA, that it became a problem. The Ukraine situation is not like the Cuban missile crisis at all; it is like the Cuba-Russia alliance BEFORE the missiles were brought in - you know, when America did nothing.

But as we all know, you believe that Russia’s public statements justifying its invasion accurately represent Russia’s actual motivation.
The Russia supporters on here are oblivious to the history of that region. They are unaware that Russia’s reasons for invading Ukraine are the same reasons they have trotted out every time they’ve invaded Ukraine, Crimea, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, over the last 500 years.
I’ve been in two of those nations since this started and the vast majority in each of them are extremely cynical of Russia and would love to see Ukraine win.

Russia has been VERY straightforward about the threat of NATO in Georgia or Ukraine for 15yrs.
Agreed. What has changed about Ukraine or Georgia’s situation vis-a-vis NATO membership since 2015?
Neither nation is any closer to NATO membership today as it was in 2015, or 2008, or 1992.

What started the Cuban missile crisis is also what ended it.....
So we fafo and then had the press haul water for us and make the russians look like they blinked, seems much hasnt changed in 60 years.
All the shite started in 2014 that lead to this inevitable point. At any stage the US could have stopped meddling but they didnt and here we are "sovereign country" and all that jazz (well it is a play after all).

Robert Kennedy then met secretly with Soviet Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Dobrynin, and indicated that the United States was planning to remove the Jupiter missiles from Turkey anyway, and that it would do so soon, but this could not be part of any public resolution of the missile crisis

"sovereign" they throw that word out repeatedly to poopoo on russia. But the list of Sovereign countries that the USA has and is still messing with is quite long.
The gov't of this country is the bully and they just can't see it. The USA was crying about the Russians harassing our drones flying over Syria. A "Sovereign" country!
Can't have it both ways.

The Ukrainians continue to throw themselves at the Russian defenses.
The line from Kupyansk to Kremmina is the weakest sector of the front for the Ukrainians. The units there are the most depleted, and they have limited armor and artillery support. Almost everything was routed to Bahkmut and Zaporizhzhia.
The Russians have made steady progress over the last week, pushing back the Ukrainian Army. Allegedly the Ukrainian civil administration pulled out of Kupyansk.
This probably just opportunism from the Russians though.

The UK doesn’t have an army or navy anymore. It’s gone.

I've followed the deterioating situation in Ukraine and the region for a long time. Long before this Proxy War with Russia. This is a needless war - it needn't have happened. Had the west honored past agreements to prevent former Eastern Bloc countries (i.e.Poland) and others (Finland - Switzerland) from joining NATO and setting up house along Russia's western border we wouldn't be watching Ukraine getting their a** handed to them by the Ruskies.
So our pal Joe Biden goes to the NATO summit. Following that Plugs calls up Selected Reservist (SR) and Individual Ready Reservist (IRR-3000) to make a big show. Hell I remember reading an assessment of our military readiness that was troubling. Obama had so depleted our Armed Forces (especially our ground forces) we couldn't even field two 'battle ready' divisions of soldiers. A division being 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers. Those numbers improved under Donald Trump, but Joe Biden's Woke Agenda just destroyed recruiting. Apparently it hasn't gotten better. Not good.
To his credit Vlad Putin was perfectly willing to allow Ukraine to serve as a buffer zone between NATO and Russia but NOOOOOO the warmongering bunch in Military-Industrial Complex - Pentagon want Russia. All of Russia including their resources.....all of it.
Then the imbecile says on a Fox Interview we're running out of ammo. Geez!
But let me be clear, IMO the blame for this meat grinding war lies squarely at the feet of one Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr, his warmongering pals in the Pentagon, and their pals in NATO. It's just so sad so many Ukraine men, women, children, babies, and elderly had to die.
War is hell.

The NY Times had a piece this morning on the failure of the counter offensive. According to the article the Ukrainians lost “up to” 20% of their armor in the first few days.
To save their armored vehicles, they’ve shifted to unsupported or minimally supported infantry assaults.

I'm beginning to think opinion may be turning on the war, just a bit.
The counteroffensive has clearly been a disappointment to the US brain trust that is pushing this war.

I have to think the cluster munition decision and the reserve activation are not good signs for Ukraine.

Yep, this unfolding debacle would classify as a disaster in the making. Zelensky shows up at the NATO summit and has a meltdown in front of Biden and NATO cause they refused to admit Ukraine into NATO. It went downhill from there.
File this under "Joe Biden - Bumbling Buffoonery".
There's your boy, democrats. The leader of the free world.
