If you are ok with less location and better room/amenities check out Delano, connected to Mandalay Bay

The Mandalay Bay may as well be on an island by itself as far as I'm concerned. It isn't close to anything unless you're going to the arena.

I stayed at the Paris over Memorial Day weekend and had a blast.

Kinda tacky, but great location and rooms were fine. I think Flamingo is in similar tier

OK, so here are my photos from my one night last summer:

Here was the daytime view from my room:

And the nighttime view:

Here's the fountain with the hotel in the background, at sunset:

In between the Flamingo and the Linq, there's this fun shopping area:

As others have said, the Flamingo's main adult pool is pretty nice. They have a separate one for families with kids.

The rooms are kinda tacky, but at least they are a normal size (I stayed a night at the Linq, and it's a new hotel, but the rooms are small).

It's not luxury. It's definitely lower tier. But the location is great.

Paris is probably a slight step up

I saw Piff the Magic Dragon at the Flamingo, absolutely hilarious

Paris is without question a tier up from Flamingo. Maybe more than 1 tier.

Flamingo location is great, pool I hear is cool too. But it is not going to be nearly as upscale as some other properties. Personally I would not stay there, but to each his own.

My BIL booked it for a couples getaway and I was pissed

Showed up and loved it

They did a huge renovation on half the rooms so it says when you book if you want to pay a little more for the new rooms. They are nice and perfect location

100%! And because it's so far away, the casino never has a very good vibe for me. I get staying there if you have kids and want to use their beach pool. But since I'd never take kids to Vegas, I won't be staying there.

The Linq is actually a very old hotel. It was the Imperial Palace in the 80s and maybe even the 70s. It was something else before that. It's remodeled, but they don't just gut them and rebuild rooms. I'm sure those rooms are the size from 1960 something.

I’ve started at both, and my actual room at The Flamingo was nicer than at Paris. The Paris property overall is certainly nicer though.

Pretty sure The Flamingo had just renovated when I stayed there though.

Is it 1950?

It'd be nice if it were. Old school Vegas would be something to see. But most of those hotels and Casinos are long gone.

Flamingo is perfect for first timers, people who live a social, lively pool atmosphere, and don’t want to pay much to be center strip. I recommend it; it’s a great place to stay. All rooms recently remodeled.
