Colorado holds 'substantive' talks with Big 12 as Buffaloes consider leaving Pac-12
quote:

"I have no comment other than what I said last week," Colorado athletic director Rick George told CBS Sports while not exactly shooting down the Big 12 talks. "We are proud members of the Pac-12. In a perfect world, we'd love to be in the Pac-12, but we also have to do what is right for Colorado at the end of the day."

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark and Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff had no comment, while a representative for Sanders did not respond to CBS Sports' request.

It is expected that Colorado would receive an equal media rights share ($31.7 million, beginning in 2025) to join the Big 12, making the move even more attractive. The league's contract with ESPN and Fox is believed to guarantee an equal share for any expansion teams so long as they are currently Power Five members.

I’m more worried about Oregon, Washington, and the Arizona schools bolting than Colorado if I am them.

If/when the Big Ten takes the former two and the Big 12 takes the latter two, PAC is fricked outside of becoming the Mountain West.

Here’s to hoping Cal gets frozen out of all the conferences given the shite they gave to so many other schools looking to join the Pac.

The Pac 12 has to be the worst run sports league I've ever seen. They literally had a monopoly west of Texas and completely blew it.

Read an article yesterday, about how important it was to USC and UCLA that the Pac 12 survive.

They have multiple sports that the Big Ten does not participate in, they were counting on games in the west coast.

When Colorado leaves, I look for the Arizona schools to announce soon afterwards.

George Kliavkoff

Perhaps the worst commissioner I have ever seen, or even heard of.

What the frick has this guy done?

The Big 12 solidified itself by adding some solid G5 schools. While not ideal, it did show stability and it paid off with a better than expected TV deal.

It's been nearly a year since USC and UCLA announced they were leaving and Kliavkoff hasn't done shite. No additions, no TV deal, no buzz. Nothing.

The Pac 12 is down to 10 teams and may lose more. There is no reason - NONE - that he shouldn't have added some teams. There are no homeruns left in the expansion game for the Pac 12, but a couple of singles would be better than nothing.

First, it's a fricking travesty that BYU did not get added to the Pac 12 years ago. I know that was before Kliavkoff's time, but they are paying the price now for their elitism and religious bigotry.

He should add San Diego State, Boise State, SMU and UNLV right fricking now (and maybe Fresno). Announce the Pac 12 conference championship would rotate around major Pac 12 cities, including Vegas and Dallas, add Gonzaga and St. Mary's for basketball only.

There are other things he can do as well, but just do something. What a failure.

I misread the title as "Looks like the PMAC is about to be taken off life support" so I clicked on it expecting to see some new cool renderings.

Frankly, the PAC 12s biggest problem is the apathy in college sports out West.

Whether you can say that's rooted in some woke, toxic masculinity or simply in such a diverse demographic makeup of Hispanics and Asians, etc I don't know.

It only makes sense if it’s Colorado Utah Arizona and Arizona State.

That puts the new Big12 at 16 which is a good number and maintain P5 status.

North:
WVU
Cincinnati
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
BYU
Colorado
Utah

South:
Houston
Baylor
TCU
Oklahoma State
UCF
Texas Tech
Arizona
Arizona State

Honestly on paper it looks like a solid #3 conference. Maybe even #2 top to bottom because aside from Michigan and Ohio St, the Big10 isn’t all that.
