Yea I just bought a laptop that consistently ranks at the bottom and it’s the best/cheapest laptop I have ever used so I don’t give a frick about what rich, entitled a-hole review journalists have to say about products.
Reminds me of seeing a rotten tomato rating at 8% writer score but 99% audience score. After watching the movie, I am part of the 99% score
In other words, I don’t trust a single fricking thing that so called “experts” rank

Sony here and have cut the cord. Updates fine and have it connected via ethernet.

TCL or Vizio. TCL 5 series has been great.

Ummm Get your eyes checked lately?
Honestly depends on what they watch on their tv.
If they’re not streaming any 4K content and are only watching crappy low resolution cable tv then a $2000 tv is overkill for someone like that. OTH if they stream from providers with quality 4K content then that $200 is going to look like crap. Although lately some Netflix 4K material is so bitstarved it might as well be 720p.

"Professional" reviews are absolutely purchased. Never trust them.

still have a 32" I bought in 2009. Best HD TV I've ever had.
Same here, thing is still going strong in a guest bedroom.
I'm a Vizio fan

Absolutely nothing wrong with my Walmart brand Sceptre

I love my LG OLED, had it for 5 years. Unsure if they've updated their OS situation but the OS on that TV is some proprietary deal and doesn't include support for all the apps out there. Almost all, but like the HBO app isn't available on this platform. There's a couple others. Samsung does a Linux-based OS and you can install anything on their platform. For what it's worth.

Vizio has went to shite, avoid them.

With something like TVs a lot of the information provided by reviewers is objective. If you can understand and interpret the data sites like Rtings are invaluable. They also have very solid subjective ratings based on the data.
I lot of people claim to not be able to see the difference between a cheap and high-end set and this may be true for them but if someone that understands the differences and can point them out get them in a room with a low-end and high-end set they will be able to see the differences very quickly especially when pointed out. That doesn't mean everyone needs a Samsung S95 but it also doesn't mean flat panels are just a commodity with different names on the front.

Haven’t had to go TV shopping in 9 years. Typically, Costco has some excellent deals, and that’s where I’ll go again when needed.

If you want cheap and serviceable - Hisense
This is how I roll now, Hisense with a Roku platform. If it burns out after the 3 year insurance, just replace it without crying.

I bought an Amazon TV at Best Buy last year. Was cheap, picture and sound are great, and I like just being able to tell Alexa to turn the TV on/off, adjust the volume, switch to different HDMI ports, and stream whatever without fricking with the remote control.

Exactly. I use directv stream to watch football, baseball, news, and some Netflix.
I have a Sony Bravia and, for what I watch, there is no significant difference from the $300 TV to the $2,500 TV.

I bought a 55" TLC a few years back for the computer room. I love it more than the big name brands, because I can download and customize the apps. It did come preloaded with crap but I deleted those and added apps like VLC which allows me to stream from my NAS. And it wasn't even a top of the live TLC. IF I ever get another TV, it will be a TLC.

Firestick has extended the life of my older Vizio set but we have a Samsung LED (Sam's Club) in the living room that we use with the Switch, PS5 and all of the streaming apps. Samsung TV Plus has an extensive list of streaming channels like Modern Marvels and Military Channel. Pluto TV is sort of the same thing with streaming channels but they have Golazo Network which is HUGE if you're a soccer fan.
