I drove through Abita Springs after Ida, and I could not believe how many trees were down.

St Tammany got rocked hard by Ida.
tangi got it worse and my rate in Hammond actually went down. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the rate calculations

One of the guys that works for me will be paying more per month for his escrow than he does for his mortgage premium as of June 1. I don’t see how this is sustainable.

If you’re on your phone, use reader mode to get around the paywall.

I don't either. Not exactly sure what we're supposed to do, and that's if you can even find someone to write for you.

Federal government never should have been subsidizing insurance to begin with... wouldn't have these issues coming to a head like this

The last 3 years all (HO, PT, FI) have gone up. That hasn't happened before that time period. Last year there was a vote to raise property tax to give the police a raise.. I know a lot of people who wouldn't have voted for that if they knew the high+ jump in the insurances. I am just praying we don't have a busy season for a couple of years so HO can go down...

Dont look now, but the continuing rise in car insurance too. Basically, it's going to cost too much to live in Louisiana on the lower ages.

If it’s not the lack of economic opportunity and crime it’s the cost of living. Such a sad thing to sit by and watch honestly.

I hate seeing Louisiana go down and down and down. I love the state and like many others wish we didn’t have to leave it. The reality is, it’s just got so many factors working against it. No matter how much you love Louisiana it’s real hard to justify.

Louisiana is a good indication on how the country will go. Not enough people doing the rt thing, too many making it miserable for everyone else.

Like why the frick should i have insurance and drive like a normal person and pay my bills? Half the damn state doesnt.

My current plan is to build a house in northern St. Tammany. I'm planning on putting a metal roof and as much structural resilience as possible. Will that be enough?

I talked to my roofer about a metal roof. He said no company will give much of guarantee/warranty on a metal rough due to all the maintenance that is required.

I don’t think the rest of the country where things are actually functional is a good comparison… and the rest of the country doesn’t get hurricanes like we do

Costing upwards of $1000 a month to live in a home that paid off.

pfffft, I pay more than that for a paid of house in the DFW area, not quite as much for the property in FL. but it's definitely a racket
