I loved Watching Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran bouts. Enjoyed Ray Mancini and rooted for Gerry Cooney.
My stepdad and I used to go to Lafayette and watch amateur junior fights all day.

Bernard Hopkins and Floyd are my 2 favorites.
But lets not forget Baton Rouge's own Emmanuel Augustus. When it come to entertaining fights...he never failed.
Here is a YouTube documentary on him

And do yourself a favor and go back and watch his fight with Mickey Ward...me and my mother watched it the other night! It was an instant Classic!

I grew up in a boxing gym in West Monroe, LA and got to meet lots of pro boxers even though I was just an amateur during my boxing days. My uncle who
ran the gym and now his son trained several champs going back to the 80’s and also trained fighters for the Olympics. I met Joe Frazier. He was great. I moved to Houston and trained at Kenny Weldon’s in Galens Park and met Evander. His sparring sessions were interesting. Obviously I grew up watching Iron Mike so he is a favorite of mine although I like retired Mike better. Maybe my favorite though is Big George. When I moved into my
second house in Kingwood in 2001 he lived on an entire cul de sac one block over. Got to know him pretty good.

To miss Muhammad Ali is to miss the golden era of boxing. It won't be back. The other golden era for me as a boxing fan was Sugar Ray Leonard and all those great welterweights that were his contemporaries.
In both weight classes were the best boxing had to offer. Again, it won't be back.

Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor - pound-for-pound THE best in his prime in the 80's. He was an unstoppable knock-out machine. Ask Alexis Arguello fans.
