frick Cancer.
One of my all time favorite bass players. I learned the bass by trying to copy him on This Charming Man.

Heaven knows I'm miserable now. I'll be listening to the Smiths all day.

Great tune.. I had some wax "Hatfull of Hollow" and wore that thing out. I love Johnny Marr... I could live with less Morrisey, but whatch gonna do...
Andy Capps.. 1986? Walked in and heard Smiths - How soon is now, the Lords of the New Church - Dance with Me, then Jim Carrol - People who Die.. In order... Lenny Zenith was playing upstairs. There were acid heads living under the cover of the dry ice fog.. Crazy scene.

Morrisey's statement
quote:
Sometimes one of the most radical things you can do is to speak clearly. When someone dies, out come the usual blandishments … as if their death is there to be used. I’m not prepared to do this with Andy. I just hope … wherever Andy has gone … that he’s OK. He will never die as long as his music is heard. He didn’t ever know his own power, and nothing that he played had been played by someone else. His distinction was so terrific and unconventional and he proved it could be done. He was also very, very funny and very happy, and post-Smiths, he kept a steady identity - never any manufactured moves. I suppose, at the end of it all, we hope to feel that we were valued. Andy need not worry about that.

Top 5 band of the 80s. Maybe the best.

Say what you will about him, the man knows how to use words.

You know you’re getting old when smiths start dying. Albeit before he should’ve.
Great band, and maybe the most unique of the new wave era. What a time to grow up!

He was such a solid bass player. I absolutely love the Smiths. Sorry to hear of his passing.
