If we are talking about “gang bangers”, then we are 99.9% talking about felons. So your point is not as astute as you think.

It just then becomes a question of whether or not it’s acceptable to an officer to occasionally as for ID when he sees people carrying weapons. And people can cry about profiling all they want, but as long as the shoe fits then it’s a moot point.

So they can no longer control or manage the gang problem. Well finally, the people can help them ELIMINATE the problem.

One purpose of LEO is to protect citizenry. They obviously are doing a horrible job.

I hope it stays that way. Unpermitted concealed firearms just legalizes the gang bangers who carry unpermitted concealed weapons everywhere. I'd rather the police be able to confiscate guns from the drug dealers on the corner.
Wow, how racist of you!

So you think every black man is a gang banger and drug dealer? Wow!

Correct. The reason the veto override failed last time is because law enforcement around the state pushed against it during the override session.

Well not the only reason. Also because the legislature is also full of lapdogs that piss their pants at the mere thought of trying to buck the LA governor.

If all a person is doing is conceal carrying then why are you calling them a thug? Surely they are doing something else they can still be arrested for otherwise why is law enforcement harassing them?

Gun most likely stolen
drugs most likely possessed

etc etc

Leos lose nothing. If they are carrying during the commission of a crime its still a charge. Every other state figured this out. LA just is too corrupt and thinks laws and govt are always the answer.

If the thug is a felon, he can’t possess a gun, concealed or not. If he isn’t a felon, he has every right to possess a gun as any other citizen. How do we judge who is a thug and who should otherwise be able to exercise a constitutional right without having to apply and pay for a permit?

Last time they tried to pass this the loudest voice against was the State Police, crying about the amount of funds they would lose from lack of CCW permit fees.

Edit: proof they don't care as much about "safety" as they do funds.

*safety as defined by corrupt agents of the gov't

If constitutional carry passes and a “gang banger” is caught with a concealed weapon and he isn’t a convicted felon, he is legally carrying. I have no problem with him exercising his constitutional right.

There are laws about having a gun in your possession while also having drugs in your possession. Those laws would cover these concerns.

How many gang bangers will be carrying legally purchased (not reported stolen) firearms?

As sad as it might be, even gang bangers have 4th amendment rights, until there is evidence (RAS) to overcome the 4A burdens.

My only problem with unlicensed concealed carry is that some people are simply too fricking stupid to do it safely. One of my 16 first cousins carries everywhere. Literally everywhere. At family Thanksgiving, he sits around drinking with a gun in his pants, surrounded by two dozen small children. He has been asked to lock it in his glove box when he is around all the children, but he refuses. Poor judgment. The family is not going to exclude him from the gathering, so we all become responsible for keeping the little kids away from his drunk arse.

I can understand and appreciate your sentiment. Tell you what, since leftist and "moderates" speak of compromise, how about this?

Get rid of the fingerprint and permit fee. I don't see why I should pay the state $150 for the permit fee and another $20 to get fingerprinted like a common criminal. Worried about people who think they know how to safely use a firearm but in reality a big NO? Just require a class and they can use a card showing they completed it as the "permit." Still worried? Toss in the requirement to use a holster.

Sounds like a plan?

HB 464 proposes an increase in the penalty for concealed carry of a firearm by a felon.

What other "rights" does a felon lose? If not, then why is the 2A treated differently?

Why should a released felon, who has served their time, be unable to protect family and self or hunt for food to feed family or self?

The thugs are already exercising this right.

Why not let the good people do it too?

Interesting proposition counselor. What other constitutionally protected rights are you in favor of violating, based on perceived intelligence? Voting perhaps? Free speech? How about the right to an attorney?

Nah dude, I’m all for convinced felons losing their 2nd Amendment rights. They surrendered those rights when they committed a felony.

Are you seriously white knighting for violent convicted felons rights to carry a firearm? frick, they’ve already demonstrated that they are willing to use a gun in the commission of a crime and cannot be trusted to responsibly carry a gun.

I have zero problem with non-felon black men carrying concealed firearms. frick, I encourage it.
