I'm sorry to make you the target, but I was just espousing the absurdity of the party line on the 2A on this site. Anyone straying one tiny bit from dogma is a dangerous communist.
The hard, cold fact is that the Bill of Rights is just words on paper which can be changed as laid out by the Constitution. If enough people get fed up with firearms and the way Americans are using them, they can change the Constitution such that the Federal government may no longer guarantee that 'God given right'.
You and I agree, responsibility is the key. We (firearms enthusiasts) should lead by example of our responsibility. There should be ZERO excuses when it comes to guns. The number of guns stolen from vehicles is out of control, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the primary vector for illegal guns on the street. "I locked my truck door." usually isn't enough to actually secure a firearm. I can't imagine having one of my guns used in the commission of a crime.
But people on this board don't want anything to do with that sort of discussion, it looks too much like communism to them. I've tried. When I've pointed out, after some have complained about theft of one of their guns, that they're responsible for securing their guns, they resort to, "You're victim blaming". They want to believe doing the minimum is enough. Anything more is infringement.

I did have a serious question: since you believe in some semblance of “reasonable training” for a concealed carry in the name of safety, shouldn’t, by the same logic, poll taxes be reintroduced along with civics testing to ensure one understands our government and how it works before voting?
However there is an obvious public interest in teaching people when they can shoot and how to do it safely and accurately. Similar to teaching someone how to safely drive before issuing a drivers' license.

We do have open carry in LA, but you can end up with a disturbing the peace charge if you offend or scare to many people.

One could have the argument that everyone concealed carrying would become a “social norm” as much as having a cell phone in your pocket.
I do believe there is a massive difference in a right compared to what is personal responsibility. The conservative viewpoint here being you have the right to carry, just as open carry, but you have the personal responsibility to know how/when to shoot, with accuracy. That is not up to the government to decide, just as it currently is for open carry.
It is safer for people to carry concealed than open carry. Yet we require no training for open carry. We expect people to train themselves and know what to do. Now, suddenly, the firearm is covered by cloth and all that gets thrown out the window? The logic and mental gymnastics for open vs concealed astounds me.
