Grill Gloves & Chimney Starter

Got a nice blister because I keep burning through my grill gloves. It's a dual problem, my chimney starter handle burns off every time and I'm just grabbing the metal. I only burn sticks. Leftover coals at the bottom, new split logs on top, and I've used the OK Joe's chimney from Academy but it 1) always loses the handle grip as it melts off and 2) the damn grate thing at the bottom inevitably warps and becomes unset from the cylinder, and I'm always bending the damn thing to get it back in.
So - recs for gloves and starter? The wider, shallower chimney that I see at Academy isn't going to work for the firewood.

Get a starter with a wooden handle. I have some Grill Armor gloves that I got off Amazon that I like but they're not perfect.

I use to use the weber chimney starter back when I needed to use one.

I have been using the Weber starter for quite a few years, with no issues. However I only light charcoal in it. I use the charcoal to get the wood burning in my smoker. For gloves I have been using the Meater gloves with no issues so far. They are machine washable, and do have to be washed after every use. No blisters or burnt hands yet.

My crappy gloves haven't quite kicked the bucket yet but when they do I'm going to just pick up some of those big thick leather welding/machine shop gloves.

The weber chimney starter has always been rock solid for me. Seems large.
