The guy just can’t pitch in the SEC. Guidry, Dutton and Herring are better

Except he can. We've all seen him do it.

We are in no position to give up on any pitcher.

It's not really an experiment. We're going to need him at some point.

He isn’t good. And hasn’t been the last two years.

Well, that’s just wrong. You are the same idiots who were saying Floyd should go back to the pen, and let’s end the Hurd experiment.

He has been good. But now he's inconsistent. Because he has pitched well and we need arms we're not in a position to "end the experiment."

What do you mean by end the experiment? Just don't use him anymore? Do you understand how baseball works at all? Do you understand how thin our pen is?

Its hard for me to believe that Johnson keeps putting him out there in these big spots. Dude had a 1.4 whip last year and has a 1.6 whip this year. He needs to be midweek for a couple innings and then blowouts in sec play.

Of all the pitchers the OP could have used to say we already have that role filled, he should have said we already have Ack, Herring, and Coleman

He has his good days. Don’t give up on the kid.
Everyone has their role to play. Hopefully things start clicking for him again before regionals

His whip from last year doesn’t tell the story of how he was nails down the stretch.
This was at the end of April last year:
He had a lot of bad luck early in the year," LSU pitching coach Jason Kelly said. "There were some times we didn’t play great defense behind him, and there were a couple of outings where I don’t think that exit velocity off the bat was over 60 miles an hour, but he gave up five hits and he just couldn’t turn the corner.

"Four weeks ago, he turned the corner and I think they hit a line drive on a reasonable pitch right at the second baseman and you kind of felt like, 'Oh, finally something went his way,' and ever since then, he’s been awesome.”

Recency bias is strong on this board. You might want to look at the other Johnson for changing his arm slot.

Also, Jay Johnson said he was the best pitcher they had from what I recall reading which is shy he got a starter spot.

Maybe it's the extra couple pounds he added in the off-season??

He's too inconsistent to be pulling out of the bullpen in tight situations which he's consistently doing with him. He's basically a one pitch guy because he doesn't throw his FB enough to keep hitters respecting him. He should just go out there with a sign for a hitter to let them know what he's going to throw. That alongside him having way too inconsistent control over being a 1 pitch guy is a disaster in the making. He's going to get blasted by someone. He has limited appearances so far for a reason. I have no idea what they see in him to put him in tight spots lately but I'm not sure I agree he has earned that over what we have.

He should not be one of your top gloves out of the bullpen in tight games. It's that simple. If they want to use him in a blowout or extend it to someone else, sure. If he was more consistent with his control and find his location on the pitches, I could understand the move.

I was a Copper believer at first but with each outing it’s becoming less and less. I truly hope he can turn it around b/c we need him. last night when he put in Cooper before Hurd I knew that shite wouldn’t work. I yelled at the tv for him to put in Hurd. He just doesn’t have the stuff right now.

Cooper was LSU‘s best pitcher last year down the stretch. He inherited a ton of runners and rarely did one score. From about mid-April until they were bumped out, I only had faith in Cooper out of the pen.
