BREAKING: Ken Griffin, the hedge fund CEO who seemed poised to back DeSantis six months ago, has been privately telling people he’s deeply troubled by DeSantis currently, per NYT.

Yesterday he said we need to stop the Ukraine war which we know RINO cucks and money guys like Griffin probably don't care to hear and now this.

Did Ron finally grow some brass and tell people he can't be bought?

Is Ron going to make this a race finally?

I am currently in on Trump but Ron distancing himself from these types of people and all the Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush RINOs could help sway me.

He has no money, he is the definition of “I need to be bought to win.”

He’s probably backing out of a run this cycle.

This isn't a new development. You've just been too enamored with Trump to remember that this is who DeSantis was all along.

Welcome back to reality, friend.

Can he win the nomination if he does this?

Guy hasn’t been in the news since the early 90s and this is what he comes up with? Hell, even his son is old news nowadays.

Anyone running against Trump has to have big money behind them. 2028 will be different (as there will be no Trump and he leaves no successor), but for 2024, they're needed. Some 4D chess would be Griffin, et al, combatting the silly "he's bought" concerns by floating these exact rumors, to get the reactions I quoted above.

I do think it's more likely that they believe RDS has lost his luster and they're all resigned to a Democrat victory in 2024.

Hes realized he has zero chance of beating Trump or Biden. He needs to beg for the VP pick now to stay relevant for 28

The problem is he HAS to be bought, he can’t self fund like Trump.

The people who cut the checks on the right are either:
a) already aligned with Trump and pro MAGA
B) GOPe types who expect him to act and speak like he’s Paul Ryan or GWB

He can’t out MAGA Trump and he couldn’t afford to run that campaign even if he did.

So that leaves him flirting with the NeoCons and globalists or sitting it out.

He’s an incredible governor, but without money, an established base or GOP support you can’t beat Trump.

His play should’ve been to tell the GOPe to STFU and he would play ball after he won the primary, but the cats out of the bag now.

I don't think they believe those are accurate, but the indictment really helped Trump and created a gap. RDS closing that gap will be hard. Then he has some national electability issues that were created after the indictment (signing the restrictive abortion bill, namely).

You combine those 2 and RDS is both less likely to beat Trump and less likely to have a shot in the general, so why blow all that money?

The GOP needs Ron DeSantis. But they need him in 2028. Not this cycle.

It's ok to be both Team Trump and Team DeSantis.

2028 was never a realistic option for RDS. It was 2024 or bust for him

“DeSantis didn’t raise $200+ million, with 94% coming from billionaires and multinational corporations, for a gubernatorial reelection race in Florida. Keep in mind all of the major expenses (television ads, mailers, etc.) are coming from outside PACs and affiliated groups“
