You and your children are already lost if you dont have the backbone to tell them the truth.

It's a frustrating situation to raise children in this Godless society
We have always lived in a "Godless society" because as Jesus stated, "my Kingdom is not of this world." And hence, this world is not our home. So therefore, the best thing that we can do is establish a foundation of truth which is found in the Gospel/Scripture and Scripture alone.
That is how to defeat these so-called culture wars. Use Truth and raise your children upon this foundation of Truth.

Homeschool, vetting of acquaintances for values and no TV is the only way in this society to insulate your children from wickedness.

And the Liberal/Socialist/ Democrat serial down voters are out and about in this post.

mean, if we find that there is an autoimmune process similar to hemolytic anemia of the newborn, then it is difficult to say they aren't 'born that way.'
So we should treat it like a birth defect?
Opens a whole other can of worms, but still not what we historically mean , in terms of social treatment and rights, as "born that way"

Also, there is no gay gene. If there were, you would know about it.

She doesn’t understand what that means she’s just regurgitating some crap another adult told her. Kids do this all the time.

If we find an autoimmune process? Probably.

But it would literally present the same way.

You don't have a point if you've opposed gay marriage from the start.

My kids go to conservative Catholic schools and they don’t buy into this nonsense
Posted on 4/24/23 at 9:49 am to frankthetank
Did you ask her how she decided that? Has anyone discussed it with her and was it at school or elsewhere? It is important to know why she decided to tell you that and who told her it was okay.

So?

If someone or something else has more influence over my 7 yr old child than I do, then I'm reevaluating my parenting philosophy. I reevaluating everything!

Any biologic cause would equal 'born that way.'

At 7, I didn't like girls. I had two sisters and they were sissies. They didn't like sports, snakes, throwing rocks or any of the fun stuff. They were not useful in any way as far as I could tell. Who would like a girl, other than another girl?

In the end, I told her that gay people can live their life how they want. But it is not normal for girls to like other girls in that manner.
In what "manner"?
It is indeed ok for girls to like other girls when they are 7, yes 7 years old. She wasn't talking about sexually. "Like" in her realm of experience, simply means a strong friendship. With girls, friendship is very strong and all of their lives they will hug and kiss other girls with NO sexuality behind it.
Some of you are over reacting.

Girls liking girls is totally normal. It’s called college.

i opposed gay marriage in my 20s. loosened on it around 2010 in more of a libertarian bend, and am now opposed.
i'm fine with civil unions or whatever. let them share benefits, be with loved ones in the hospital, etc. but allowing marriage the way it was was a mistake.
because of a slippery slope.
