Currently you can turn 19 in September at the beginning of the year and still play all year, including in the next spring.

It should be set that the day a kid turns 19 he is no longer eligible to play high school sports.

If they're developmentally challenged then they should be playing in the special olympics or whatever.

You think they turn into Superman at 19 or something?

You mad that your son 16 year old braxtyn got a golden sombrero vs a 19 year old pitcher throwing gas?

"Any student who is 19 on or before September 1st is considered too old to play and ineligible for competition in all high school sports."

Does turning 19 magically turn a kid into a man, and he all of a sudden has strength, skill, and abilities that were not there before?

Yeah, a 25 year old would be a problem but the difference between an 18 year old and 19 year old is virtually non-existent.

19 year old boys should be able to play on the Girls Varsity Basketball team and the Softball team, too. Why? Because we are not bigots and Diversity is our Strength.

Change my mind.

Required attendance and grades matter. You should encourage and be proud of those kids who stick it out. Gfy

Not really an issue in south Louisiana that I know of, but a different story in north Louisiana. Many of these kids are already some of the oldest in their class with October and November birthdays. Then the parents hold them back for another year. Kids are almost 20 when they start college vs a kid that may have a July or August birthday that just turned 18 that is starting college. The LHSAA needs to limit the number of 19 year olds a team can have and you would see this nonsense stop. I see it every weekend in travel ball and it's only going to get worse as 2D,PG,and others promote these kids as the next shining stars.
