Pelicans star Zion Williamson – sidelined since Jan. 2 with a hamstring strain – is unlikely to return to action in next week's Play-In Tournament, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The team has been cautious with Williamson's comeback as he continues rehab process.

Fire Griff. Clean the FO of all the used car salesmen. Fire Nelson. Start this over, because there is not way this clash with Zion and griff ends well

Be interesting to see what he’s like on the bench tonight…body language.. interaction etc.

Does no one ever get in his ear from the crowd down near the front rows… or is everyone too polite?

If we had ever really expected Zion to come back and be at full strength this season, we would have made different moves at the trade deadline.

Zion has played in 34% of games since being drafted. That stat is insane.

yes. posters trade deadline ideas were only a reasonable way to spend the #1s if you know zion is going to be on the floor.
such as a very good shooter on an expiring so you are all in to win now.
there wasn't a deadline push because it was not a given hes playing.

I knew it. you knew it.

It’s not Griff and the front office. It’s Zion!!

Why would a FO pay a max player to sit out when they need them the most (during a playoff run. Especially when they can go deep in depending on where they place)? The FO just doesn’t want to call out an immature kid who’s got them by the balls really.

It has to be something related to Zion, his personal diet, preparation, or some combination of these things. He has a history of multiple injuries that take longer than average recuperation time to heal. I hope that someone is able to figure it out, and that he does what is necessary to fix the problem. If this is something inherent to him or his unique physical size and abilities, we are in for a long purgatory as Pels fans.

It’s all of them. Griff said not even a year ago that he handled the Zion injury thing all wrong, and if he could redo it he would go about it differently. Yet here we are, doing it all over again. He’s a snake.

He is, and that's exactly why this strategy doesn't make much sense. If customers keep calling about something you don't have, you don't tell them to piss off and stop calling, you try to sell them what you do have, which isn't that bad the way they are playing right now.

It feels like Griff is not in control of the narrative here or he would have had better snake oil to sell.

I fall in line with this thought process. Something is inherently wrong with Zion’s training methods or lack thereof. Obviously whatever he’s doing in the off-season and during the season is failing him and this franchise miserably. He should look hard into a bio mechanical specialist due to all of his injuries coming on the right side of his body. That’s not just a coincidence at this point. He’s running the risk of being out of the league soon because no team is going to risk signing him if he’s never available. Greg Oden and Sam Bowie are about to have company.

This. Griff is a fricking snake and an outright thief. He’s protecting Zion’s fat sorry arse from the ridicule that he will and is already receiving for being overweight and lazy.

Just imagine what this team would have looked like with other players taking up Zions insane salary.

He's only making $13.5 million this year. Also, that's not free and clear cap space to use as you want. You should save that one for next year though.

What would you like Griff to do? I’m genuinely asking.

He can’t make Zion rehab and condition. Hell he put it in his contract and it doesn’t appear to be fully working. He can’t outright call him because you would probably lose the locker room or cause negative attention to a young team trying to focus on the playoffs. You don’t want BI, Jose, Trey, and Herb anymore distracted with every single question about Zion and not their success during the playoffs. Especially, when they could potentially get in the conference championship if things break right for them.

There are two games left. He covered himself with the word unlikely. With only two games left a definite statement would have been given if he actually knew.

The more i read from the beat writers and stuff on twitter the more it seems like this is Griff and Nelson holding Zion out. Zion needs to start putting pressure on them to play. Make them cave.

No player in NBA history as played his style of ball at his weight in relation to height.

Zion needs to realize that his current body makeup doesn't work and accept that he needs to change.

Dude could drop 40 pounds and still be the strongest player in the league.

He needs to look closer to Karl Malone than Big Baby.

Zion needs to lose 25lbs before next season.and if he dosent trade his arse. Someone will bite it may not be a ideal value but its better then cutting a check to a seat on the bench. A 10/10 guy who is available is worth more then a star who is always unavailable.

The media needs to stop talking about him, the pels need to stop promoting him and remove all his pictures and crap around the dome and arena.
Larry is more important to the pelicans then Zion.
At this point I'm team frick Zion he is a soft as baby shite and has no real intrest in conditioning and evolving his body to play the game "he loves" . He wants to be the way he is and he dosen't want to commit to change.
As much as I hate Lebron he is committed to working out and conditioning so he can be out there.
