They don't have that rule on the PGA. That's a local rule for amatuers.

Makes sense. I’m just going off seeing them walking to the ball and couldn’t hear any commentary so was very confused as to why he’d sacrifice a stroke with the ball, while short, in obviously play.

ETA: and didn’t realize he ended up playing the first ball.

LIV golfers finish 2,3, and Tie for 4. I guess all those exhibition matches prepare you well for the majors!
