CJ can will us back into a game with his shooting but every possession that doesn't go through BI or Zion is a wasted trip. Let BI and Zion be the primary ballhandlers, keep Trey out there for 3pt shooting, Herb for defense, and JV for rebounding. CJ as our sixth man will provide much needed offense for a second unit that's been struggling to score.

It’s only unpopular with shel.

I think CJ off the bench would be a good fit. Less time with JV and CJ together and more Zion and Trey

I agree, basically switch him and Trey’s roles in the starting line up from the start of the season. I don’t see Willie doing that but it needs to happen.

I like it. He can play his style and give us the offensive boost we need off the bench.

Does CJ allow it? Will willie have the balls to make that kind of move

No, because Willie knows that is not best for this team.

It's a good idea in theory, but it won't happen because of CJ's position in the locker room. He can't be the same kind of leader if he's not a starter.

Which is why this move likely happens next year and I understand it and am ok with it. Trey will still get a ton of minutes. It’s guys like naji that won’t see the floor as much.

This + it's easy enough to just start CJ, take him out after ~5 minutes, then bring him "off the bench" late Q1 or early Q2.

Lol no

CJ is a 3 pt catch and shoot killer. When Zion and Ingram are on the court their gravity will allow him and trey to fricking feast

I don't think that's right at all. Temple never plays and he's one of our leaders.

No, Temple is not the same kind of leader now that he's not playing. In fact, you're just making my point, as that was why Willie kept playing GT last year despite how bad he sucked. As soon as we got CJ, Willie parked Temple on the bench.

It’s hard to imagine CJ off the bench, but there’s no reason why he can’t play a sixth man role as a starter. Whatever decision they make between Herb and Trey, you can sub that guy in for CJ at the 6 minute mark, seven minute, eight minute whatever it may be. Then get CJ back in the game while BI/Zion rests.

Though I want CJ and Trey getting a lot of run with Zion.

This is the correct answer. Some of you people obsess over the first 4 or 5 minutes of a 48 minute game way too much.

Yeah, but full strength I have Jose, BI, Herb, Zion, Trey as my go to lineup.

Honestly depending on the matchup go small and start: CJ, Herb, BI, Zion, Trey. Only teams I feel like that wouldn’t work against are Nugs and Grizzly, and maybe Suns with Ayton. Don’t really know the answer for Nugs because Jonas can’t guard him anyway.

if he can cut down on his ill-timed turnovers, i'd be apt to agree...
