Watched American Made. Any Barry Seal stories from the 80s from those who remember this?

How these guys have all this cash and never get a safe place to store a lifetime of it is beyond me. I'm buying gold with that shite and piling it up somewhere far away with a fancy new passport. Maybe it's just not that easy, I've never been a drug smuggler.

Wendell Seal his brother had the fastest boat in LA and lived on Hoo Shoo Too rd. Would frequent Shenandoah hardware. That’s all I got.

Isn't that the one on or by horseshoe bend with a little pond or something in front of it where Barry reportedly would land a small plane sometimes?

Eta - or maybe the drops were there and that's where they were scooped up?

A buddy’s dad had a boat that ran out of the mouth of the river, Twin 454 inboards Run out, scoop up bales, run back in. Thought he was too slick to get caught.

He did 10 years.

Some time back we had a good conversation on here about Barry and I think his son took part.

So when I was a young punk I worked at the Winn Dixie on the corner or Perkins and Seigen. He would come in the store twice a week with rolls of quarters for the pay phone. Yes, back in the day they had pay phones inside of the store. Our store’s phone was up front, by the office . Pat Peace was the name of the store manager back then. Knew something was screwy as a 15yr old kid but didn’t quite no what.

There was another Barry Seal movie in the 80’s with Dennis Hopper. I think it was called Double Cross The Barry Seal Story. It may have been an HBO movie. IMHO a better movie than American Made.

My father in law was a pilot with him. They were in the CAP(?) together. Lee Harvey Oswald was in the NOLA branch/chapter and they did lots of drills together. They thought he was touched in the head.

Mother in law would not let him participate in the Bay of Pigs. Berry was an interesting dude.

He was my Dad’s cousin. Barry would take my Dad , my uncle, and others flying around the lakefront and coast.

My Dad and uncle worked on cars and they would take Barry and se how fast they could cross the twin spans or causeway.

Later in life I asked my dad about the whole situation. He said the Barry he knew was just like any gearhead who liked to ..basically do redneck shite and was good at it. . He also said it was impossible not to like him. He had it. Gravitas. As far as the “other stuff”, that shite was kept tighter than a duck’s arse.

A) I asked and no my dad never fished out square grouper

B) never left us airspace. Purely joyrides.

Poloza did him the worst requiring him to sleep every night at a Salvation Army 1/2 way house for six months. Basically invited the cartel to come kill him when that happened.
