There's a population of well fed semi-feral cats in my neighborhood and for some reason they have taken kindly to pissing on my back porch.

I hardly ever see this things and when I do they're in a heavily wooded area that's difficult to get a shot off with a pellet gun. I've set out traps but all they do is catch raccoons.

Any of y'all ever had to deal with this? What works?

I've never had a problem trapping them. I do trap raccoons occasionally as well, but if I notice a stray cat around, he's in my trap within 2-3 days.

not sure if true, but i heard if you spray coyote piss around your property, it runs off cats and dogs as well as things like raccoons and opossums.

i have seen comments saying it works great on keeping the raccoons away

no, all the animals that are on the coyote food menu, that dont want to be eaten, wont go anywhere near a yard that has cayote piss scent, because its a basic survival instinct

Your problem is your neighbors feeding them. You probably can't keep up with the reproduction rate of feral cats with traps.

coyote pee may work. I have 4 cats that come through my gate every night. I had a deer try to crash through one night and for the next several nights the cats avoided the gate completely. Maybe try to spread a few drops of tinks and see what happens.

I wish it were that easy.

Between the time I put my kid down for bed and now (about an hour and a half), the cat has pissed on the porch again.

As someone else said, it's the assholes feeding them that's the problem. I may just have to put something in the food bowl.

Find an old Democrat woman...preferably w/ purple hair. She'll take them up in an instant.

Throw out some cayenne pepper all over the porch. Cats will step in it, then lick their paws while chilling out on your porch. They won't be back.

Here's an actual recipe I found, but straight pepper works just fine for me.

quote:

Mixing 1 part dried cayenne pepper with 1.5 parts dry mustard and 2.5 parts flour creates a dry solution for sprinkling over areas of the yard or garden as a cat repellent. This mixture can also be mixed into soil where cats dig or investigate. Reapply after rain.

quote:

Cats hate the effects of capsaicin, a chemical compound in cayenne pepper. When they get around the pepper, they can inhale or accidentally ingest the compounds. It gets into the air and causes significant irritation to the feline’s sensitive sensory glands.

Well idk these peoples' politics but it's two old geezers who we've talked to several times about this.

The weird thing is, they could just adopt these cats and feed them at their own house but they hobble their old broken asses across the street every day to feed these cats in the lot of a house that was smashed by Ida.

Nonsensical in every way.

I had a male tabby spraying my back porch a few years ago. I set a trap with canned tuna and started catching raccoons virtually every night but not the tabby. After relocating 5 raccoons, the trap was empty in the mornings but piss was still there. I put the trap up and started leaving some tuna out. Piss in the morning and tuna eaten. After a few days of this I put the cage back out with the tuna. About 3 am I woke up to the most demonic screaming sound and could hear the trap shaking. Bingo! That mean bastard's face and ears were covered with healed scars from many years of fighting. A trip in the bed of my truck across the Mississippi River bridge to a wooded area solved the problem.
