Pretty much decided on a Browning X-Bolt Speed SR. It will be suppressed and used for hunting mainly in Ms (box stand, ladders, etc). Help me pick from 308, 6.5PRC, and 6.8 Western. Thanks

30.06 springfield.
Hathcock took out a Nth Vietnamese general at 700 yards with one. Wide variety of different ammo. Every country stop-n-rob store likely has it on the shelf .

For that, go with 308. Ammo readily available any store any time. 6.5 prc may be around in ten yrs because of the prs crowd but I would bet 6.8 won’t be here in 5-7yrs if I was betting.

I’d go .308 and with the shortest barrel possible.

.308 most wide variety of ammo in the world and proven to be one of the most effective cartridges out there.
Very curious why suppressed? See a lot of that these days and make no sense at all. And as a trained expert level marksman/range master/and long range contest aficionado it leaves me baffled now days to see so many people doing it. With supersonic ammo under normal hunting conditions There are just not many suppressors available to the public that does much good at all if ANY! and if they did you would have to have a computer and high degree measurement tools to find it. Not really a practical application.

No point in suppressing supersonic ammo.
Tikka in .308 ftw

Rifle choice is fine. Get the .308.

.308 by a large margin.

.308 and like Rize said shortest barrel possible.
I would also look at Bergara and Christianson Arms. Browning is nice but can get a lil more bang for ya buck. Plus the browning triggers are not that great if I ask me.

As far as choice of caliber, of the ones you're considering, I'd go 308 Win every day of the week and twice on Sunday. It's not yet clear yet whether the 6.5 PRC is going to around long term. The 6.8 Western is a fine round, but the main thing it does is allow you to shoot a heavier than usual 270 caliber bullet at 270 Win velocities. As far s shooting supersonic ammo in a gun w/ a suppressor, I'll point out that on prairie dog hunts the last couple years, I've been running my long barreled handguns w/ a suppressor. Admittedly, I'm usually shooting <100 rounds a day, but the suppressor sure makes the hunt more enjoyable for myself and the other hunters around me. A 22 Nosler has a lot of muzzle when shot in a 15" barrel that's unsuppressed.

It seems like you have the rifle you want and probably the silencer picked out?
The .308 is the one for economics and availability the other cartridges are superior but, expensive (more) and harder to find unless you buy a bulk load and have them ready to go.
I bought a 28 Nosler and have enough pricey Ammo to make three or four more Elk hunts.
I would like to have a short AR pistol braced .308 myself short barreled variation. I have a silencer from which I can move between weapons in that range.
They work by the way…
