While ?@mtaibbi? & I were testifying before Congress on the weaponization of the federal government, an IRS agent showed up at his house. What an amazing coincidence

“When did the IRS start to dispatch agents for surprise house calls?. If the IRS wants to audit a return, it schedules a meeting at the agent’s office. It doesn’t drop by unannounced.”

“The curious timing of this visit, on the heels of the FTC demand that Twitter turn over names of journalists, raises questions about potential intimidation, and Mr. Jordan is right to want to see documents and communications relating to the Taibbi visit.”

“Mr. Taibbi has provided the committee with documentation showing his 2018 return had been electronically accepted, and he says the IRS never notified him or his accountants of a problem after he filed that 2018 return more than four-and-a-half years ago.”

Four and a half years? Those frickers are throwing shite against the wall blindly trying to claim something before the period prescribes.

Having bullshite accusation keeps the period active from an enforcement perspective.

Democrats are doing everything they claimed Trump would do. I'm pretty moderate, but they're definitely making lean more right as every day passes.

It was probably in the fine print of the EO obama signed giving IRS agents the black, scary, military grade assault weapons and purchased 100s of 1000s of rounds of ammo.

Those revenuers gotta protect themselves from taxpayers.

If it's the IRS, it's their truth that rules, even if it isn't the reality.

I think everyone needs to get a letter from the IRS, and then nobody would vote for Democrats or RINOs.

The rest of us appreciate your unbiased assessment of the modern democrat party.
Keep your eyes affixed on what they do, do not listen to what they say.

That lays out pretty clearly where you lie. Do you define modern as post LBJ when they destroyed the black family? Post Civil War when they ran the Klan? What is "modern" to you? I bet it's a flexible definition depending on the situation and who is on the other side.

Hell, I dont need to generalize LBJ to present. We can just call it from their conception.

Wow. They had to go out of their way to find that, too.

IRS usually never looks at a return past 3 years.

It’s basically a 1 out of a million deal.

Is there an IRS legal requirement to keep records more than 3 years?

Modern Democrats are going to lose the liberal base if they’re not careful.

That's a scary thought; when you start to see the folks in power both openly disdainful and arrogant, AND they begin to drop pretenses of caring about their base, that's often a sign they no longer need the public's backing to keep control.

Hell, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but it's possible we've already had the soft coup. It's a digital society, but very few people understand how the software that counts and confirms votes works; and most of the industry that does, supports the side that won. And there's so much cultural antagonism being spread online, we're so split up and at odds with each other (sometimes over stupid things), that there's always going to be some doubt that THEY (the supposed other side) voted for that jackass we thought nobody wanted. For example- did John Bel really win, did that many Abraham voters really swing D or skip the polls entirely? We think so, because faceless posts online said they did.

Like I said, I don't believe this has happened yet, but it's getting closer to being a possibility.

This is why Trump should've gotten behind Jason Chaffetz and the IRS committee he was wanting to investigate and go after them. This is a major reason Chaffetz retired because Trump wasn't interested in going after the IRS.
You guys remember the IRS targeting conservative groups under Obama. Well now we have 85,000 new agents coming ready to target conservatives.
This was a major error by Trump in his promise to drain the swamp.
