At the time, I found it appalling. One of Clinton's first actions in office that made me seriously dislike the man.

Was in college at the time and always thought it was idiotic. Put surveillance on Koresh and when he is in public arrest him alone.

In 1993 people weren't inundated with information like we are now. You mostly just knew what was reported on the nightly news or in the newspaper.

I was in middle school - my dad was from Texas so he always zeroed in on any Texas news - all I remember my parents saying is they should’ve left those people alone in Waco

As for OKC - my parents always said McVeigh was a puppet

I didn’t know about Ruby Ridge till way later

this is part of the absurdity of it all, Koresh was out and about in the community all of the time, and the "compound" wasn't some fortress with armed guards, a security gate with all of the Davidians locked down as prisoners, the community(albeit that's kind of a peculiar community,) loved him, he had a good rapport with local law enforcement

I was a teenager so I didn't watch the news or read newspapers, but I do remember the adults being instantly divided by it. The liberals in the family all taking the ATF side and the conservatives taking the people's side. The gun control issue was big at the time with the Brady Bill, and this raid was originally about them having guns they weren't supposed to have, so right off the bat, republicans were ready to take the side against the ATF, and likewise the liberals on the side as the ATF, like the bootlicking socialist kvnts they are.

There was no social media or citizen journalism back then to have an open dialogue so the country bought the narratives fed to them by the MSM which was they were a cult and terrorist.

Correct. Plus a Democrat was President so the MSM was, well, you know.

PS - I voted for that guy.

And not just a cult, but a pedophilic bult. Really weird to see the constant "groomer" callers on here be just peachy with actual pedophilic terrorism.

CNN and the other news outlets were professionals back then compared to now full of activists.

Some people were hip to it after the first "invasion" by the ATF.

Lots of us were skeptical toward the end, particularly when we found out that Koresh could have been nabbed alone many times over.

Then it became apparent this was some staged event from the government perspective.

A High School friend of mine was the ATF agent who had a round bounce off his helmet in the original video, when they were storming the facility.

I agree they could’ve/should’ve apprehended him at any time prior to the siege/assault but painting Koresh as some folksy and unusual pastor is bizarrely disingenuous.

The guy was destroying families and diddling kids. He was running a sex cult that was fully outfitted with Barrett .50 cals prepped for the end time.

Timothy McVeigh was outside Mt Carmel handing out leaflets about Ruby Ridge. There is pictures of him doing this.

If Waco didn’t happen, The OKC bombing might not have happened.

I just remember my teacher in 3rd grade leaving class early that day and going on extended leave because her husband was one of the ATF agents that died
