Toyota Corolla
This is a highly rated car, I just don't know if I trust the CVT transmission yet. I don't have any experience with them

I understand some here shite on Ram but.. I test drove them all and honestly they are making the best truck right now.
Had a brand new one I treated like a baby. Started having issues at 17,000 miles. Needed a part, they said it would take 6 months to come in. Traded the piece of shite in and got a Toyota

Not like those are used in millions of Hondas and Toyotas. Jury is still out.

Lol, I'm not spending 60k on one. There is a few out there for 10k and some for 20k but in this climate if you spend 60k you're an idiot, and you'll be paying 13% if you finance.

Way I see it buy what you want.
Most trucks are good but there is always a chance to get a bad one. All brands have their pros and cons.

I bought a '94 f150 single cab with the 4.9 with 82,000 miles for 3500 bucks last week. It'll probably still outlast any new $60,000+ truck bought today.

Ram makes the best truck on the road today, and it isn't close.

Honestly, if it is his first truck why not buy a base model around 30k instead?

Buying any vehicle new is tossing money on the fire.

My son will be buying the truck himself, he’s a grown man

Only two vehicles near the category I am touching new are a Jeep Wrangler or Toyota Tacoma. They simply hold their resale value insanely well.
I usually keep two vehicles for myself, a sporty car and something that can tow well so I am OK with older vehicles. A 5-10 year old full size luxury SUV is where I like to stay, they depreciate like crazy the first 5 years then hold on to value pretty well as long as you take care of them. If I got the new itch it would be settled with the two vehicles mentioned. A Tacoma can tow almost 7k with the V6 and is probably plenty of truck for the majority of the population.

Truck prices are stupid. I'll never buy another new one I guess unless we have a major market correction.

Ford Now Making $20,000 Avg in Profits Per Full Size F-Series
And that's on just the "average" price full size vehicle (XL) -- gouge (profits) are considerably higher on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, SuperDutys, etc..... in some cases, $40,000 plus in profits per vehicle

Imagine 40k in pure profit on a high end F150. The rest of the trucks are similar, or better.
If you pay full price for one of these, you are an absolute sucker.

Buy used 4wd Tacoma and pocket $20K.
