Then Kobe blew that team up. His ego about being the center of the universe knew no bounds.

They weren't likable back then either.

80s and early 90s Lakers were likable
I wasn't around for the 70s teams

Didn’t Mario Ellie play for them at some point as well?

As a Paper fan growing up I never met someone who wasn't a Laker fan like the Lakers..

Showtime Lakers were those damn Yankees, always winning and people hated them for being flashy and soft and not playing real basketball. I remember watching Lakers-Pistons Finals with a huge crowd and everyone wanted the Pistons to win but me.

Likewise Phil Jackson's Lakers. People hated them for winning, getting all the calls in the playoffs and everyone on that team was a prima Donna who wanted all the spotlight on themselves, including the coach.

The 97-98 Lakers were my favorite Lakers team along with Robert Horry and Rick Fox on that team.

Are we arguing that Kobe was likeable? Dude went through major PR in his later years playing to get to neutral. Some revisionist history here.

That team was not likable at all unless you were a Lakers fan. Easily the most hated team in the league at the time. Funny how time alters the perception of these things.

Hated them. Kings should have beaten them but choked.
