Yes, its the same problem Baton Rouge has, but that's the piece of the puzzle they don't address because its on the mayors.

I don’t get it. There literally used to be groups of cops staged at every block.

thats one of the first things latoya did was work hard to remove police from anywhere crime may happen.

when they did arrest people the officers were disciplined and accused of racism. if you were an officer there you learned quickly that the fastest way to lose your job was to arrest criminals, so instead, they put all their efforts into writing parking tickets and harassing law abiding citizens

thats why the criminals overwhelmingly re-elected her, she sees to it they can terrorize the city without being bothered by police.

You people don’t understand what’s going on. The blue cities are purposely destroying the ole police dept of Irish and Italians and Germans in order to replace the entire forces with another demographic and then I will BE On. This is the truth 100%.

My grandfather was in the NOPD in the 80’s. He also fought in the Vietnam war. He said policing Nola was more frightening than fighting in Vietnam

Are you available to do a study on the Loop project in BR? Could possibly save taxpayers a lot of money.

Meh. I wouldn't even think the leaders of these cities were even smart enough to execute a solid plan to do something like this if they wanted to.
They just pull the rug out from under the police forces and make sure the DA's and judges will let the criminals off for damn near everything. That is enough to make any cop worth a damn want to leave.

That's pretty racist bro. A lot of vets, of any color, turn into LEOs. Baws from the backwoods go become livestock or fisheries agents. Black dudes can ride horses just fine.

NOPD mounted patrol used to be code for "MAINTAIN, BRO!" Now it's just an excuse to punch an animal that outweighs you by over a thousand pounds so your friend can post it to TikTok.

It's not due to the race of the cops.

As much as I hate LaToya, you can blame Mitch’s policies for the downfall of the NOPD

This is true

Mitch brought nola the Consent Decree with completely changed the way policing was carried out in New Orleans. It handcuffed the police. No high speed chases. No searches for suspicious activity. And lots more.

So ask yourself, “why would a legit cop want to work in Nola?”
Not many legit cops do.

What is left will be a mix of unproductive cops who are staying for various reasons, few of which have to do with the actual job of reducing crime. Maybe waiting on a pension. Maybe just lazy. Maybe corrupt and running drugs or prostitution or theft rings or all of the above… it’s happening in New Orleans. The reasons are counter to the desire for safety from concerned citizens.

Mitch was the reason for what we see today. Latoya is just a selfish politician looking to get what she feels entitled to. Her only concern is what’s best for Latoya. She’s endemic of what you get when things are nearing either an end or a crossroads where things start to change. We’ll see what comes but from what I see and hear, there’s not a lot of hope in the lineup of interested leaders.

It’s going to take a strong push from productive citizens who demand change. It won’t be a light switch fix either. There’s a big hill ahead.

Lack of Police presence is definitely a HUGE problem.

But NO is begging for bodies to take the job & I don't blame anyone for not taking it.

I took this pic of the interim police chief “walking the route” before a parade down Magazine. She’s surrounded by no less than 8 officers, being trailed by at least 6 SUVs with 2 police in each. I’d bet $$ that that this is as close to street work that they’ve seen in their careers.

... all by design ...

think Ferguson , MO. back in 2014 ...

the Rams were sent packing to Los Angeles because of ochastrated racism/riots and a mayor who cut the team loose...

the same thing was supposed to happen here in New Orleans with the Saints in 2015 ...

the string was supposed to be cut by 'old Mitch boy; but because someone saw defensive coach Rob Ryan dancing on the sidelines after the TB game --- the deal fell through
just as Godell was signing the doc ---

The Saints were to be switched for t the Rams so that Los Angeles would have the "Angeles" and the "Saints" for (at that time new stadium)

and did you even know that is why we ended up with JBE for governor...

Ha ha
You didn't know

... and they are still, to this day, trying to make that deal happen ...

even though it failed then, they still want it so bad they can taste it ...
... and where does our mayor come from ???

straight out of Compton ...

Call me naive but I still believe that if you go down bourbon street to the standard tourist bars between the hours of 12 PM to 1030 PM, don’t get belligerent drunk and hang near your hotel from 1030 to midnight, you’re most likely fine.

No guarantee but if you don’t go around like a dipshit starting trouble or looking for trouble, nothing bad comes of it. Trouble is always close in Nola.
