Driving from Denver to North Texas- Best Route? (Update Pg 4)

Made it to the Denver area on my road trip travel board thread and will make my way towards Ft Worth tomorrow. Looking for the best recommended driving route and a good overnight stop.
I'll likely need to spend the night somewhere in TX or OK and continue Sunday morning but want to get between 8-10 hrs from Denver.
Options look to be
1. 25 South, 385 to Amarillo, then 287 through Wichita Falls
2. 25 South to Lubbock, then 84 to 20
3. 70 East to Salina, then 135 south to Wichita then 35 South through Oklahoma City
Thanks y'all

Always did option 1 and took 287 coming from Houston and back from Denver.

I did 287 from around Dallas to Amarillo as part of a drive to Vegas I did last summer. Was pleasantly surprised at how good the road was. Almost all 4 lane as I recall and good quality road. There are a few small towns you have to go through, but nothing that really slowed me down.

Route 1. Wide open and beautiful for most of it plus ample gas and food stops along the way. I would recommend staying in Wichita Falls. its about 650 miles from denver and is a good stopping point for the day.
Get an early start if you can. Last time I did this, I left at 4 am from Denver and got to watch the sunrise light up the mountains and had I-25 pretty much too myself.

You’ve made a wrong turn if you end up in Oklahoma.

This is the way I’ve done it.
70 absolutely blows and there is nothing to see. But it’s not a bad drive

This was one of my worries about 287 but glad to hear it's a decent road

It's going to be a long day but this seems reasonable to make the Sunday morning drive easy

Any decent stops this route? I've never been to OKC, anything worthwhile?

I recommend Route 1 as well. Drove it back in 1979 (seriously) in a VW bus camper...except cut off on US 50 to go to Fort Sill...
then later did a variation off of I-40 down to 287 to the Dallas area....
good roads...

Route 1.
Much nicer drive through Raton pass. Plenty of stops.
287 is the right mix of wide open spaces and small towns along the way.

Option 1, be in Amarillo By Morning.

Made this drive at least 30 times. 287 is the fastest and easiest route. Pro tip-south of Channing Tx, turn off on 1061 and take it to Amarillo. Lots less traffic.

Make sure you sing, "Amarillo By Morning" when you drive thru Amarillo. Drives my wife nuts.

Ive done it a bunch.
287 from Amarillo is the winner.
Generally how I do it as well.

I would do this but I'm trying to make it to BR for the baseball game Tuesday night and see friends in FW. My skis are put away for now
