Woodward Basketball Coaching Hires

Has Scott ever hired or even extended a men’s basketball coach that has actually won an NCAA Tournament game after being hired or extended?
I think it’s a smaller sample size with Romar (6 years), Buzz (4 years), and McMahon (1 year).
Gave Romar a 10 year extension in 2010 and he never won a tournament game after that.
Hired Buzz Williams in 2019 and he’s never won a tournament game, hell he’s only played in 1 at A&M (tonight).
McMahon….just no.
Am I missing something? He’s made good football hires, and every other hire here has been good, but he’s got a terrible track record in MBB.
ETA. This thread went about like I expected and really shines the light on people who don’t care about basketball and get irrationally furious when anyone criticizes Woodward. I didn’t say he should be fired or anything like that. Just pointed out a historical problem and asked why it exists and what can fix it. The responses called me retarded and a fricking moron. This is what you get from the Woodward crowd when you try to have an objective discussion.

What are you confused about exactly?

Wondering why he’s so bad at hiring basketball coaches.
ETA. I’m sure the Catholic High crowd and his other boot lickers will be by to defend him, but I’m genuinely curious why he can’t get basketball right.

I’ve decided your thread and questions are too fricking stupid to respond to beyond this.
Good luck and god speed.

I was actually looking up Washington basketball postseason results during Woodward's tenure there out of curiosity after Buzz got blown out tonight.
11 years is more than a small sample size. It's concerning.

No he shouldn’t. Don’t be stupid. He literally just hired Brian Kelly, jay Johnson, and Kim mulkey and you want to fire him cause a first year basketball coach with a program under scrutiny from the NCAA who had to rebuild and recruit an entire roster in his first season didn’t do well? God we have some stupid fans.

What makes my question stupid? Because it criticizes an AD based on objective results? Or is it that you don’t like the objective data because it doesn’t fit the narrative you like?
At some point does he consider an associate AD dedicated to basketball and hand over that part of the job? This seems to be a glaring hole in his performance at every university to date. Maybe it’s not in the hiring process and it’s on the support side once the hire is on-campus. Either way, this is eye opening for an AD that is highly paid to have such little success in the second highest revenue sport.

Despite popular belief, saying it over and over again will not make it true.
There will be no punishment, we are not under scrutiny.
The fact of the matter is that nothing will happen and Wade will end up like Sean Miller at Xavier leading another team (besides McNeese) to an NCAA tournament sooner rather than later.
Your crooked boy Scott bent the knee to the powerless NCAA. He lacks a chest. He should do what is best and step down as Athletic Director and work on losing some fat

Because you’re a fricking moron who doesn’t really seem to understand the world outside of Tigerdroppings, or what an athletic director’s performance should be judged on

Woodward goes 3/4 on knocking hires out the park, yet you simple minded retards want to fire the guy for one bad hire
I don’t get it. I really don’t understand the ‘fire SOMEBODY’ crowd around here when things go wrong. Grow up a little

So because he’s made other good hires, I’m a moron and retarded for questioning the one sport that he has a consistently bad track record on? And somehow I’m the simple-minded one?
This is entertaining to watch these folks come out of the woodwork (pun intended) when I question his lackluster performance in one sport, while acknowledging his success in others.
So are we supposed to just ignore that he hasn’t had any basketball success? Until when?
FYI you can be good at most parts of your job and still have holes that you need to improve.
ETA. I never said anything about firing him. If you would actually read the conversation, my thought was to bring in an associate AD for basketball.
ETA 2: Funny how there’s a thread full of calling me names, but not one person has tried to answer the questions of why is he bad in this area and what can be done to improve it?

Again, you’re intentionally ignoring what an AD’s success should be based on. Here’s a hint for you smart guy: his job is to make the best hire possible with the information he has available at the time, and he does a very good job of that. It’s not to have a crystal ball and ensure that we go 38-0 every year.
At the time he extended Romar, he’d been to 3 sweet sixteens in 6 years. Was he supposed to know that Romar was going to mail it in afterward? No, and no reasonably rational person would disagree
At the time he hired Buzz Williams, he’d made 8 tournament appearances in 11 years including 3 sweet sixteens and 1 elite eight. He was viewed as a very good hire and he has A&M’s bad program on an obvious upward trajectory
When he hired McMahon, he had a .700 win percentage at Murray St. He was a fine hire on paper and his resume was virtually identical to Nate Oats’ when Alabama hired him, especially considering- and I know you won’t be able to wrap your brain around this- Will Wade made our program completely radioactive with the way he got caught cheating.
So yea, you’re either an idiot or willfully ignorant about Scott’s performance re: basketball. It’s been fine, especially considering most SEC fanbases don’t give a shite at all about the sport. I can understand every move he’s made from an administrative standpoint. You’re probably stupid if you can’t

He got Kim so WBB is good. I really want MM to succeed and it's too early to say he won't.

1. You don't know if McMahon is a good hire yet
2. Who do you expect he was going to be able to hire last season? No one was banging down the door to come here....

I get what you're saying, and in general I agree with you, however does it work the opposite way also? If a coaching hire he makes outperforms their past, is that a misnomer also that he does not get credit for? Of course not... everyone will label that AD a great identifier of talent. Some next-level guru.
It has to be reciprocal at some point or you're just cherry-picking an argument to slant it however you'd like. You have to be graded on the results of the guys that work under you - good, bad or indifferent. I'm not sure why Woody hasn't had any basketball success under his watch at any of his stops. I really don't, but the numbers are what they are, and they aren't good.

Wade made it look so easy, Fat Woody said, I got this, he thought anyone could do it.
