This guy's vision for our state is something I find really intriguing. Seems more concerned with solving underlying problems based on data rather than emotions. I couldn't think of a more effed up engine for an engineer to try to tackle than our state government, but he seems up to task.

Sorry, you're going to get Jeff Landry as your Republican/conservative candidate in the runoff, and you're going to like it. Because I know better than you.

Signed,
Louis Gurvich
Chairman, Republican Party of Louisiana

He’s the best candidate in the race. It’s who I’m voting for. He won’t win this year but I have a feeling that he’s going to be the future of the Louisiana GOP. It’s time for change in our GOP.

You left out the part where he mis-attributes a quote to Abraham Lincoln.

I disagree with anyone complaining about incarceration in this state. We need more prisons and heavy sentences, not less.

I think incarceration in this state can improve with long term economic opportunity provided by rational education reforms and vocational programs. Also, i think that incentivizing prisons to prepare prisoners better for productivity post-release would lead to a decrease in crimes of opportunity.

How is saying that the state incarcerates people—which is a fact—an argument in any way? And even if it were, why would that be a losing argument for conservatives?

Do conservatives believe that the state doesn’t incarcerate people?

Nelson wasn’t criticizing incarceration. He was mocking the state government.

Then why bring it up?

Have you not paid attention to the Orleans DA? turning people loose right and left? How has that impacted the city?

So, yes, conservatives believe that, and now should question Nelson as to why thats at the top of his list of things the state does? Along with poor insurance management and poor road quality?

I don’t even live in Louisiana, but I got it.
Seems it went way over your head.

Because he was making a joke about how useless the state government it is. As in, all it does is run a healthcare benefits system, put people in jail, and occasionally build roads.

How is it possible that the tone of the comment doesn’t make that perfectly clear that he’s speaking sarcastically? Are you on the spectrum?

quote:

So, yes, conservatives believe that, and now should question Nelson as to why thats at the top of his list of things the state does?

only a massive retard or an intellectually dishonest person would interpret his comment that way.

Because to highlight what they don’t do, the whole point of this quote, you need to mention the few things they do?

There are a ton of things worthy of flippant remarks in the state

Crime and punishment is not one of them

It was a criticism of our state budget. Are you saying you’re in favor of our state spending more money?

I, for one, would warmly welcome our state reducing spending.
