You have a bigger say in your local government than you give yourself credit for.

I would rather my local jurisdiction have the benefit of a growing population and an increased tax base, than to continue to have to send money to BR for it to be watered down by going to some brokedicks in their respective shitholes.

If that is the deciding factor for you, then you should vote for the candidate for governor that opposed all shutdowns all along, and share with us

Landry took Edwards to court. He issued an opinion that Edwards orders were likely unconstitutional. And was crucified in the media, because he wanted people to die

I never knew Nelson existed throughout the pandemic

Fair point and I agree.

IDK about that when we have multiple one-issue elections rigged for the firemen, sheriff, teachers, etc to get out the vote in tax renewals and such.

So, yes, conservatives believe that, and now should question Nelson as to why thats at the top of his list of things the state does? Along with poor insurance management and poor road quality?

Because Richard Nelson probably isn't as conservative. Mandeville isn't Many

We need the smallest government - at all levels - that can perform the functions we assign to it in an efficient and effective manner.

I'd have no problem with the size of our government, if it was effective. If the waste can be recast into improvements, let's do it.

Why do we have that? Becuase BR controls the election calendar and offers way too many election dates.

We should never have more than 2-3 election dates in a year.

He's not a social conservative, that's true.

Hell, JBE may be more of a social conservative than Nelson is.

How's that working out for us?

How is saying that the state incarcerates people—which is a fact—an argument in any way? And even if it were, why would that be a losing argument for conservatives?

Yaah i guess Louisiana conservatives just want to incarcerate folks and pave a road every now and then.

Hell, Louisiana conservatives have reservations on paving that road.

I agree on us having too many elections, and it feels good to defeat a nebulous tax increase no matter when it is. Here in St. Tammany they kept bringing the “same” request a few elections in a row, and it got killed.

I’ll admit one of the intriguing, but fundamentally prudent, things Nelson tried to do was related to our prefunding of government pensions, rather than at the “pay as you go” actuarial rate.

I’d love to hear him speak on the underlying reason for incarceration in our state.
