Invalid parking ticket....What would you do?

So the wife and I went to the Auburn vs Vandy basketball game in Nashville in February. We stayed at the Vanderbilt Marriot and valet parked for the weekend. We arrived on Friday, but on Saturday my wife needed something out of the car so I had the valet go and get the car so I could get the items out. They then re-parked the car. I got a bill today from a company called Metropolis Payments with pictures of my car entering on Saturday and leaving on Sunday. They are claiming an unpaid fare of $40 plus a $70 fine. I go online to dispute and they want my e-mail and phone number. Should I just throw it in the trash?

If you don’t plan on going back to Nashville in that car maybe.

What are we disputing here. The car was parked there Saturday and Sunday. How is the OT supposed to know their rates and policies?

I valet parked it on Friday. I knew the rate as it was run through the hotel. But that was taken care of when I checked out. I just don't understand the fee and fine as the car was kept parked all weekend except for having to retrieve the items out of the car on Saturday morning. I feel like they are trying to pull a fast one.

How far away from the Marriott was the car valet parked? If it was too far away to walk to on your own then frick them. If it was a block away and your wife was too lazy to walk then pay them.

If you don’t like donuts, you don’t get hired.

That is the thing, I don't know where they parked it. It could have been right there, or a good distance away.

1. Call Marriott and ask to speak to the general manager of the hotel.
2. If you get nowhere with the GM, call the Marriott Rewards line and explain your issue.
3. If you get nowhere with either, it's a "civil" fine at best. It can't go on your driving record.
4. If you're not bothered by a potential civil fine --- and I wouldn't be for this amount, toss it in the trash and live your life. The parking company does not have any valid proof that you drove the vehicle. I would not provide them with any additional personal information.
These are just some suggestions that may or may not work for you. The best part of all this is that you get to decide.

Make your wife pay it for leaving something in the car

The city of Nashville will come after you hard. Find a good attorney.

Seems like Metroplis just casts a wide net and sees who they can get to pay the fine. I’m doubting they want to spend the time to go after people who don’t pay. Whole systems is automated.

That is kinda what I was thinking. It says on the bill I got that they are not a debt collection agency.

I would just pay it and get it over with.

You should get the hotel involved
Parking garage could send it to a debt collector
