What the heck is the benefit of letting finland and sweden join NATO, more tit suckers

Seriously, its like adding a high school to the SEC. Just two more countries that can do as they want knowing the US will have to come to their rescue.
And before some numbskull tells me about their strategic geographical location, I think the entire rest of nato paying their arrears on their agreed upon 2% of GDP for the last 50 years might be of more strategic value.
If we were not in it the EU would have been far far more concerned about our meddling in Ukraine, knowing they would have to defend themselves.

It'll provoke Russia into taking action for the clear violation of the agreement to end eastern expansion of NATO and give the elite the war they want.

Russian border. Read a map.

Securing NATO'S northern flank. It's long overdue.

I am no globalist, but I think it's smart to study the map and a little bit about the countries you refer to before calling them names.
Both Finland and Sweden are wealthy, fairly homogeneous and well-educated countries that can afford to be members AND that provide strategic territory for NATO.
We need all of the allies and strategic positions we can muster, especially given what's happening in South America, Africa and elsewhere, and given China's expansionist campaign.

NATO has kept war out of Europe since 1945…..

There has been a lot of really really dumb and ignorant things said on this board since this thing started. This though is special level dumb.

Sweden helps ensure that Russia cannot move subs out of the Baltic Sea undetected.
Finland allows NATO to stage troops and weapons close enough to the Cola Peninsula to, in the event of a first strike or pre-imptive strike by NATO against Russia, they could sever communications and take out nuclear launch sites in the Cola Peninsula before Russia can give the orders to retaliate. Basically, Finland joining largely neuters Russia’s threat of “mutually assured destruction” reciprocity.

More drop-dead beautiful blondes?

Finland whooped Russian arse a couple times.

The benefit is more countries under one umbrella that will submit to the same group think. Bigger the entity, harder to defeat.

I'll go ya one further... Why in the **** are WE in NATO at this point? Our country is bankrupt and living on a credit card whose payments are overdue and we continue to throw an expensive party for our "friends" in NATO.
Wonder how long they'd stick around if the power, water , and TV got turned off at the host's house?
I'm with ya. More tit-suckers is about what they amount to. Of course, maybe it would help if our nation wouldn't unbutton her blouse and flash her tits around the world with such regularity.
At the very beginning, President Washington warned us about getting entangled in Europe's affairs. But no! Everyone is so much more enlightened now!
Trinnie - You're absolutely right about this, but there's so much further we need to go with it.

What would be in the downside of Finland and Sweden joining? Finland has already beat back Russia in a war. Both FIN and SWE already have a decent military for their size and economy.
I'm not worried about Russia. But, it would be nice to have them in a NATO coalition war with China if it comes to that. Even a war with Iran or NKO.
Turkey is a snake. They are a part of NATO. They play both sides of the fence. They are in a constant war with the Kurds, allies of the US. I'd boot them in favor FIN and SWE. I don't see a downside of them joining.

They are already somewhat associate members just like Switzerland, just not full members.
They know Russia a helluva better than Politards do

You know how the USA always goes into countries and teaches their military? The US Army and Marines have been coming here for a few years now, Learning from the Finns. It's invaluable cold weather training and the USA is behind on this.
This is not a 3rd world country. This country is known to pay every cent of every bill ahead of time.
To the poster asking for the wominz, you can't have them, I found them first.

Eh…I used to think that the “one world government” would emanate from the UN, but now it’s looking like it will be NATO.

Oh look, another that knows practically nothing about NATO, NATO's funding, or either of these two countries.
Sweden and Finland will instantly become two of the best militaries in the alliance, both bringing their own domestic arms industries into the fold. Neither one of them are tit suckers--they have managed their own very capable defenses with their own resources for the last century or more.

Pay it to who? No one paid the difference when nations spent less than 2% of their GDP on their own defense.
