Is there ANYWHERE good to sit and eat in Monroe?

I will be in Monroe for a few days at a conference. WHY ON EARTH the organizers chose MONROE of all places I will never understand. Anyway, are there some good food places to hit up, preferably with a bar area so we can kill some time too. We have 2-3 nights of nothing to do.

You can eat at the bar at both Parish and Doe's , if you wish. You might wish to make reservations in advance, though...they get crowded since there's nothing to do here.

Dude is probably from Walker or some other culinary juggernaut.

Is Cotton still good?
Used to be talked up a lot on here, and I went years ago back when it was and really enjoyed it.
Never hear about it anymore, but see it's still open.

It is still good. We had brunch there last week. It's not putting out the type of food that it was when Cory Bahr was there, but it is a solid restaurant with a good bar .
You can go get Cory Bahr food at Parish though, and it is outstanding.

I live in Lafayette and I have been tempted a few times to drive up to Monroe just to eat at Parish. Food looks fantastic, and Cory did a great job when he was at Cotton so I'm sure it is.
ETA: as Otis said, I'd probably eat there and Doe's. The bar at Doe's has some great pours, too.

I liked Waterfront Grill the one time I ate there 10 years ago. As I recall, it satisfies your bar criteria.

My personal favorite.
The bar is great but kinda small. You can sit at the bar and eat but there are also a few hightops in the bar area.
The dining area is nice and overlooks the bayou but we always try to sit in the bar if possible.
The BBQ shrimp is one of my favorites.

After Little India closed, my list of places to sit and eat here have slowly dwindled...Parish is phenomenal though. Really good. Taste of India is decent. Don Tomas is decent. Genusa's was ok. Basil is decent.

What difference does it make where I’m from?

He just wanted to know where a low life piece of shite like you grew up.

Obviously wherever it is from it can't possibly compare to the mecca that is Monroe Louisiana. We should know Monroe is the best city in the region to host a conference.
Thanks for the actual recommendations from everyone else. Seems like there should be a couple places that should be decent.

There's no reason not to go to the Warehouse. Always good food, they have a nice bar, and if weather permits, sitting out back on the water is relaxing.

Good call. And he'll need a reservation there, too.
He should consider the Mohawk for some real local flavor, also.

If I ever find myself in Funroe, I'll have to eat here, just to recall my days when that place had dive bar status as the Siesta Nite Club.

Went there a few times with ULM friends. One of them may still have a cocktail shaker that somehow went home with them after a long night.
