Gonna be honest and say I question the decision making capabilities of the type of people who would go to Mexico for a good deal on a tummy tuck.

About 7 years ago I drove south from Phoenix to a resort town in Mexico. About a four hour drive to Puerto Penasco. We were stopped by four 20 year olds in military fatigues with rifles. They collected a $60 tax. I will never go back to Mexico, not even Cancun orCozumel.

Kept a RV in Bahia Kino for years and many times. Never had a minutes trouble, even during the last spike in Cartel violence. Sold the RV to a canadian couple 2 years ago and have not been back. Never drove at night, always self aware. Rocky Point has had some issues off an on though for a while now...I was there 4 years ago and it was off...nowhere near as nice as it once was. The people who stopped you were probably actually police or military, either of which will take a pirates stand in Mexico given the opportunity. $60 is pretty cheap.
Sailfish and yellowtail bite off Bahia kino is worth the trip...and bottom fishing is fantastic also. Tuna are also abundant if you like getting whupped like that....

You would be surprised at the number of people in this country that think other parts of the world are just like it is in this country... Until they find out it isn't...

Generally speaking the cartel's don't just kill Americans...they do take American's hostage from time to time but simply grabbing 4 Americans and killing 2 while 2 escape is not typical. It either signals a significant change in the way they do "business" of there is more to this story than is known to the public at this time.

My wife wears stationed at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo for 5 years. A couple of times they put Juarez off limits to all military personnel, which believe included the Army at Ft. Bliss. I ended up having a friend that was border patrol. He told me one of those times they shut off the military from Juarez was because some cartel had taken the insides out of a baby and stuffed it full of heroin. They dressed up the baby and tried to walk it across the border in a stroller. fricking animals.

Were any of the 4 Americans kidnapped cops or government officials? I haven't seen anything about them being but if they were its a significant increase in the cartel's willingness to commit acts of violence....they are usually loathe to get involved in any way with Americans not interested in doing business with them.
