China would never assume they could beat us in a head to head tank vs tank, aircraft vs aircraft style of traditional war. They would use a completely different method to defeat us, that would consist of massive biological attacks, activating their hundreds of thousands of agents imbedded throughout our country to conduct infrastructure attacks. Ultimately their goal would be to make us a domestic chaotic mess that our government would not focus on the war, instead our government would have to use military assets just to keep this country in order, after all the masses riot/set this country on fire from within due to not having a functional society.

The military doesn't work the same way as law enforcement.
Pretty sure commanders in theater have a bit of autonomy to complete the mission. Been like that since WWII.
The Pentagon has always been full of DC empty suits. This is nothing new. I served under Clinton and Bush, we managed.

China's long term plans are always to subvert then control. They know they can never win a hot war.
They are doing this around the world with resources needed for the modern era such as cobalt and lithium. They have been doing it here with our politicians. They also did it with Hong Kong.

Nukes aside, China is an annoyance, at best, to us. They are the world's largest importers of energy, food, and fertilizer. Their land is horrible and doesn't produce even a fraction of the food necessary to support their population and that's WITH industrial inputs. If we were to park a carrier task force in the Indian Ocean and turn back their food, fertilizer, and oil shipments, they'd lose half of their population to famine in under a year.

It's also more profitable for them. China, has discovered a win/win scenario for them. Their involvement in our politics, entertainment, and social movements has turned the US into a shell of its former self.

These generic questions are pretty pointless.
If the two nations decided to wage war to see who would control Kuwait - that would be completely different than if the US wanted to invade China or China wanting to invade the US.
The outcome depends on these types of variables.

You're looking at it from a tanks and bullets perspective, which is wrong. We wouldn't square off in some open piece of land like 2 western gunfighters. We'd simply starve them. They have no blue water Navy, so no real way to project power. The entire OP is a dumb question. We'd wreck China and they know it. Why do you think, with all of their supposed military might that's supposed to able to defeat the U.S., they've allowed Taiwan to sit right off their coast and thumb their noses at the CCP for 70 years? Xi knows what's up. We'd wreck China.
