Mandolin Wind-Rod Stewart

"Through the coldest winter in almost fourteen years."

In other words through the coldest winter in thirteen years. Why don't you just say thirteen years? What is this almost fourteen years stuff? When people say the (fill in the blank) in almost (number of years here) the number of years normally ends in either a 0 or a 5. No one says almost fourteen. They say thirteen. If you had said almost fifteen years I would let it slide and let you round it up a little. Like the song but that one line bugs the fecal matter out of me.

“I’ve Been All Around This World”

Up on the Blue Ridge mountain, there I'll take my stand
Up on the Blue Ridge mountain, there I'll take my stand
A rifle on my shoulder, six-shooter in my hand
Lord, Lord, I've been all around this world…

World should be LAND. There I said it.

.. first of all, great frickin song! Secondly, the wording is about meter, rhythm and pacing. Sing it in your head both ways and you will realize while the original sounds better.

Folsom Prison Blues

There's this....

"But I shot a man in Reno (Nevada) just to watch him die..."

but also....

"I'm stuck in Folsom (California) prison, and time keeps draggin' on"

Why is he incarcerated in California for committing a crime in Nevada?

As much as I love Bruce..

"He could throw that speedball by you.." in Glory Days is a head scratcher...

fastball fits the line too...

Okay, now everyone can weigh in on their thoughts that he is just a commie pinko, lady man.. that wouldn't know a baseball from mixing an opioid and a stimulant..

Interpol - PDA

Yours is the only version of my desertion that I could ever subscribe to
That is all that I can do
You are a past dinner, the last winner, I'm raking all around me
Until the last drop is behind you

Sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tight, grim rite
We have two hundred couches where you can sleep tonight
Sleep tonight, sleep tonight
Sleep tonight

It’s on one of my favorite albums ever, but it’s nonsensical jibberish. It’s not the only Interpol song like that, either.

I really enjoy Goin’ Blind by KISS musically, the lyric about a 93 year old man and a 16 year old girl isn’t great though

It's poetic license. If you emphasize "fastball" (which he definitely hits "speedball" with an emphasis as sung), all you hear is "f" and "s", which mostly disappears with little effect. Hitting "speed" in that line, you hear every letter. At least, I think that's why he did that word swap.

there's a Drake song that does this and it drives me crazy.

All up in my phone lookin at pictures from the other night
She gon be upset if she keep scrolling to the left

WHY NOT JUST SAY TO THE RIGHT?!!? I guess you can say left and upset kinda go together, but damn it would just make so much more symmetrical sense to say right.
