The divider is long ways on the side of the conveyor belt when not in use which is the proper way to put it on the belt.

The store by my house, the cashiers will often put the divider down for customers who don’t automatically put them down after unloading their carts. They always do it “the wrong way”. And it still “trips the sensor”

Wife & i keep a basket between us and the next person while we do the card thing. They always up your azz while trying to pay. Not with us.
