It's about that time. Episode six has a 61 minute run time. Hopefully not as heavy as episode 5 so I can actually fall asleep tonight.

Anyone else see the guy moving logs one at a time with a shovel?

Man I love this show
It’s so good
Maybe Tommy will send a search party after them or something.

Good episode. Awesome to see Jackson as a functioning compound that isn’t just barely trying to survive.
It’s easy to see why Tommy would want to stay there and thrive there.
Poor Joel. Dude is just so tortured. Pedro Pascal played that so well with his brother.
Also excited to see Tara from TrueBlood.

I can think of worse things than being holed up there in an apocalyptic scenario
Great episode

I like to watch for attention to details on the set.
When Joel was in his Wyoming bedroom, look at the chest of drawers.
=========
Multiple downvotes for complimenting the set dresser? Weird.

Man, this thread has died. Solid episode. Cool to see a legitimate settlement though. Communism working on the macro level lol
Poor fricking Joel man. He knows he isn’t what he once was but he can’t stand to hurt Elle. Why didn’t Tommy just go with them?

I don’t think I’d call that the macro level. They said the town had like 300 people and they purposefully kept the population low because they seemed to know it isn’t sustainable at a a larger level like that

Yeah this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. If he’s letting Ellie choose, he’s okay with Tommy still going. Why not have Tommy join them, it doesn’t have to be an either/or scenario and that was Joel’s original plan to begin with.

I know this is a show so they have to maintain pace, but there was just entirely way too much that happened in this episode. In what world ever do people come to people stumble upon a borderline oasis in Jackson Wyoming and bounce in 24 hours? I thought they should’ve stayed an episode or two. They could’ve played up that these two are now basically feral cats because they’ve been out for so long. They could’ve gotten into the “we’re keeping this from other people” dynamics, or Joel not willing to let himself be happy and enjoy society again, etc, etc. I know they have a mission, but it felt pointlessly abrupt.
I also don’t know why it was so you or me when it came to take Ellie. Hell Idk why Joel is so terrified of trusting his brother’s community but so comfortable with the idea of meeting a bunch of random fireflies and trusting them. I’d be much more willing to confide in the people who my brother has built up trust with and then if they believe the fireflies have the technology and doctors to actually try to make some vaccine, then you setup some group to ferry her there.
I still really like the show and think it’s well-done overall, but this most recent episode seemed like it had forced illogical decisions simple to advance to some critical plot moment.

It was never said out loud, but I think it was an accepted thing that Tommy and Joel aren’t going to “work” together again.
I’m sure we’ll learn more in a future flashback, but they must have done some terrible shite together.

I think when Joel found out Tommy was gonna be a father it changed everything.

Yeah about that......so tara from true blood was an ADA before everything went to shite. That means she was 26-28 minimum, more than likely a little older. fast forward TWENTY years and she's pregnant? Guess they have some good fertility docs in that settlement as well.

Exactly. Communism in it's purest form would be perfect but the problem is human nature. Eventually, people rise to the top and drop to the bottom and the people in the middle get fricked over. Sound familiar? Guess what is happening in the good ole USA? Do you think we are leaning more to a Republic or socialist and eventual communist agenda?
I digress. This episode was OK. Ellie's scene with the dog was a little overdramatic. She's not a toddler. I also, found the Indian couple quite entertaining. I hope they get another scene maybe when they make their way back.

Her first ride in a car came at 14. It's not dramatic for her to be excited meeting a domestic animal

Huh? She and Joel only knew the virus wouldn’t kill her, they had no idea if it was still in her.
They both probably thought for sure the dog would smell the virus in her and they’d be killed. So the dog playing instead of ripping her to shreds was a pretty dramatic moment.

Was Ellie more of a loveable rascal in the game? In the series she's sorta annoying and "too cool for school".
