Do you keep them inside your home or outside? I have three outside dogs that will not come in the house and that's the way I like it. Granted I have two heelers and a border collie and they are quite rowdy with all the deer and other wildlife that come around but they would rather be out or in the barn rather than being cooped up inside.
I am only asking because I've been told it's illegal or groups are trying to make it so keeping dogs outside if it's below freezing against the law. I say animals with furry coats can stay out if they or I want.
What says the rant?

Stay outside all week while it's below freezing with just a fur coat on and see how long you last.

Edit: Some breeds are more susceptible to the cold obviously.

Yeah you're right. I'm sure your dogs would rather sleep on the dirt in 30 degree weather versus inside in the warm.

Are you some kind of fvcktard?

I had a husky that did.

Out in the yard, in the grass, in the cold rain with his nose covered by his big arse tail.

He was very instinct/wolf like.

OP did say something about "in the barn". They are probably fine there.

Heelers and collies do fine outside, but they’d rather be following you around, inside and outside, rather than staying in the barn.

Plus, they’re just about the easiest dogs to train that exist, so inside isn’t much of a hassle.

My two large and rowdy retrievers are asleep on the couch next to me right now. They asked me to let you know how comfortable and relieved they are not to have you as their fricking owner.

None of My dogs sleep outside at night. Most are in crates in the utility room off the garage. If it’s freezing or sub freezing I put hay or a blanket in the crates. They’d bark all night if I didn’t. And when they’re all in full voice, it’s quite loud.

Cold tolerant breeds can handle it if they have some shelter. Depends on the dog.

I think you stating matter-of-factly that the animals would rather be in the barn is a justification.

You might be right, but maybe add an "It's my perception that" to the beginning.

Mine sleeps in the bed with either me or my son every night, usually goes back and forth.

He goes out to pee and poop or defend the backyard, other than that he's inside.

Depends on the breed. Dogs that have an undercoat "like" the cold. They were literally made for it.

Little lap yappy dogs have had their survival capabilities bred out of them.

In and under my bed where my dog belongs. Under a bunch of blankets snoring. Licking my face at 6 am. As God designed it.

Our first dogs were German shepherds. They stayed outside, but I built a doghouse and put straw and blankets in it. The cold do not bother them at all.

I have smaller dogs now and they are inside most of the time.

Wild animals seem to do fine. And shelter comes in many forms. Not just brick homes built by humans

Just because they can doesn’t mean they want to do that. Huskies are very pack oriented and like to be with their family

Hell even the sled dog owners that live in the Alaskan bush will bring their favorites inside

get a doggie door then. See if they want to come inside or stay out, like they want apparently.
